great result for west today, they were well worth there 2 goal victory, manor have a good young side who will only improve if they stay together, but west were way too physical for them and outplayed them for long periods.west and athenry next up AL,whats the odds of a shock in the swamp?

Believe may have past final details or near as it.
    If correct Castlebar Celtic past wins were (1.)1946/47 1-0 v Galway Rovers, (2nd Mayo side to win after Westport in 41/42 & 44/45), (2)1954/55 v ? ,(3) 1958/59 2-1 v Sligo Collegians, (4)1959/60 3-0 v Galway O.L.B.C., (5)1963/64 5-2 v Westport, (6)1979/80 3-2 v Mervue United,
    (7)1984/85 3-2 v Mervue Utd, (8)1985/86 v 2-1 v Galway Hibs,(9) 2002/03 ?v? v Moyne Villa
I have Galway OLBC as winners in 1962/63 v ?, as shown above your first back to back was 58/59 & 59/60.
    Believe first back to back was Galway Bohs 1937/38 & 1938/39 which they repeated in 1951/52 & 52/53. 77/78 & 78/79, Slgo Collegians back to back 67/68 & 68/69, and Mervue 89/90 & 90/91.
Would you know who CC beat in 54/55 final ?
Just to help you with yor=ur archives Westport United won the Connacht Cup in 1942, 1945, 1949, 1961, 1974, & 1987

Abbey will beat West United easily, we were extremely poor when we played them.
Castlebar vs Athenry is a tough one though, if Athenry get an early goal, it will make it difficult for Celtic as they play 3- 5-1 or 4-5-1 , they like to keep it tight an nick a goal in set pieces, they are not prolific goal scorers, but they work their socks off.

leveller,ye were extremely poor against west because ye were made look extremely poor,it should of been 4 or 5 nil,not the 2 goals we beat ye by,a west team missing 4 of there better players i might add,the winner will come from the west athenry game i reckon, castlebar to beat abbey in the other semi.

We had alot of injuries, and no match practice because terams which we were sceduled to play cancelled at the last minute, no pace at the back, which we usually have. Meet us again and it will be a different story.

Abbey will beat Celtic. I dont know how Athenry are going at the moment but I would imagine they will get through.

Delighted West have made it through. Would have played with a few of them at underage level. If the games on at the Swamp, anything could happen. Was talking to an Athenry player last week, and he said they had a full squad for the first time in 6 months, so they will be a handful.

Don't quote me, but I'd mark it up as - West Utd 11/8 v Athenry 4/7

take your beating leveller, lack of matches didn't hinder ye when ye won the fai junior a few years back, west had played 3 games in 3 months before that match, hardly a huge advantage,ye also had home advantage and a big home crowd and ye got played off the park, football is a funny old game,ye underestimated west and ye paid the price.

i think your odds are about right al,athenry are worthy favourites, but hopefully we can cause an upset, they won't like the bumpy surface in the swamp our the hostile home crowd alot of teams are beaten down there even before the game starts.

Jealous of what? What have you won? Nothing.

A good part of your team are from around the county and you still cant compete.

It was all about the present with you LOI recruits a few years ago? Now it is about youth. Keep moving the goal posts.

I saw your rant in the Junior Cup section. You are the one that is jealous.

While I wouldnt agree with all 353 said, what do you mean what has Celtic won? nothing. So Utd only enter into one competition each year the Junior Cup. Come on and have a bit more respect and dont always show your hatred of Celtic. I dont expect your to support us but you cant come on and say that Celtic have won nothing. I know we have already gone down this road. Beside good to have you back?

You are letting yourself down. All clubs have injuries and all good teams are built on a good squad. This is always the Westport responce to defeat always blaming the ref, full team not available etc. Call it as it was, an understrenght West Utd destroyed you on the day and that all that counts, same happened to us last Sunday and we could have been beaten by 5 0r 6 just one of those days.
As for Abbey to beat Celtic you might be right as they will be out right fav., but why do you think that. Have you seen Abbey play and when was the last time you saw Celtic play, was it when we beat you in the Mayo Cup Final, nad of course you were robbed?

I was at the St Michaels game, St Michaelswere not great but were unlucky with ref decisions, you have players of ablility and but the style of play which the grey one employs does not do you any favours, it is negative and relys on you nicking a goal and defending it, a 4-4-2 formation with a bit more emphasis on attacking, you need to score more goals.
