I deleted all my posts from this thread to tidy it up.

Tommy I was merely pointing out that some teams (especially Finn Harps in this instance) get at least one big crowd per season. For example Finn Harps highest was 1,600, and that in a season when they played Derry City!

But point taken I'm picking up what your putting down!

Chippie says the counted tickets ammounted to just over 1800. He also had a post on Gypsies-Web sbout the Gypo's attendences for their first few home games, which differed from the figures given here. I'm off to look for it and will cut and paste it below. They are official attendences so the thread should be altered. Looking at the telly some of the crowds at some of Corks smaller games seem to have exaggerated crowds though the ******s are still averaging close to twice as much as any of the Dublin clubs, off a similar catchment area.

Any Mod is free to edit the numbers. Figures are only approx ones which should eman get close to 500 of real average over the season.

Apparently city v shel$ looked like a small attendance on tv but cos was raining the stand was full & shed packed more than normal.

    estimated attendances

chippie posted this on the bohs board
    he is a bohs member

shows how out fans estimations are in nearly all cases:

    http://gypsiesweb.proboards14.com/in...num=1057059492

nearly all those figures in this thread are completely unreliable in my book

I suppose the problem is if someone is 500 out for small club thats a large percentage out from actual figure.

If the city figures or Pats to a lesser degree are out by 500 its no big deal.

    STILL THINK

its pointless unless you have certified figures
    its meaningless
with crowds of 2,000/3000 500 is a big difference

    just dont see the point

if i wanted wild inaccurate guesses I'd just read the Star
fans always exaggerate their own attendances, and in my experience are hilariously wrong in estimating their own attendances

when you hear the odd official figure from those working at the clubs it always makes me laugh at these postings on message boards by fans

    Exclamation wws

I cant speak for anyone else on this. The figures for City are as accurate as they can be. The reason i posted last is because i know there can be big margins of difference (200-500) but the figures are always close on for City .... i have contested some of them as being too small in the past.

City have had good crowds this year and it is hard to nail it down to within the last 20-30 but while they might not be totally accurate, if you go with the lowest figure then you can be confident enough with averages etc.

The whole reason this was started was so that we could compare to the papers on the figures, with fans giving figures as accurate as possible.

Man ... if you are happy with the paper then fine.
For those interested ... you know the score.

i think the central point im making is that NIETHER are anything other than guides and having spoken to teh CCFC chairman before the Pats game I would not agree with the estimates of corks support, I'll be slaughtered for that here but I think he'd have a more accurate idea than posters here

    no

I heard a few comments from your boss that led me to believe that the figures posted here are not accurate end of story

as they were comments on something unrealted I m not going to put them here

I'm not winding up. If you feel there is value in fans guesses than far enough, we'll agree to disagree as in my experience fans rarely guess near the actual attendance

Club chairmen are likely to only quote figures for those who paid at the gate i.e. not sponsors, season tickets holders etc...

Fans just usually just guess the who ground & as you say are usually too high. I'd be surprised if citys average was less than 4500 & theres no way is less than 4000 for this season.
