1300ish Town v Drugs.....
Stand just under 2/3's full (900 ish), and I'd reckon about 300 down are side..... Actually maybe a 100 bewteen both ends....
Shels Vs UCD at Tolka had a very small crowd.
Maby a Shels fan would be better able to judge the attendance in their own stadium, but I would guess that there were no more than 1,000 to 1,500 there.

EL grounds are like good episodes of The Simpsons, no matter how many times you see them they're still funny

Pete .... are you doing anything with this, if so will you let me know.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
Does this have owt to do with us ?

Although it only counts 10 Derry games it looks pretty accurate.Originally posted by TommyT

I'd rather die laughing than trying!
Yep, that's me taking figures from here, Bohs official figures and the Star. Probably best taken with a pinch of salt.Originally posted by TommyT

Most of the stuff here wasn't too bad. Any chance of getting him to change it to just that and ignore the Star ?
Cheers to the Pats fans for all thier help![]()

always felt this thread was the most futile piece of misinformation goin
To be honest .... if you feel that way, you could of at least send in the Pats figures and you'd know then that was right.Originally posted by wws

You stance on this didn't actually help at all.
Can i ask ..... how would you have gone about it, what in your opinion is the most acurate way of doing it, knowing the info that was available to us ?

Still think most fans wildly overestimate crowds (I know I've done it) Roll on next year and published correct figures

Most of the figures were over estimated.... I mean for a prime example look at the Bohs estimates compared to the actual figures.... The only way to do it is through published attendance figures, as Bohs do.... Anything else is no different from the Star guessing them.Originally posted by A face

If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.
eh, if i dont have a figure what do you want me to do?
pluck it out of the air like the rest on this thread?
I'll give you an example here to illustrate:
I was at a game in richmond park were I was standing on the camac side directly opposite the stand side
I could clearly see that while the stand had a large crowd that there was a noticeable gap between the home and away fans in that stand
these away fans when told of this indisputable fact laughed off the suggestion and thought the very notion preposterous
basically when you're in the middle of a crowd of more than 200 and if you're at a certain vantage point in a ground you can have a very incorrect impression of what the ACTUAL attendance is
in most cases listed above I don't believ any of the figures
Cheers for a re-hash wws.
Move to go to the jacks during the game or something then try.
It's an attempt to be MORE accurate than the Star though obviosly it won't be the full story. It was also an attempt to get thesepublicised to avoid wailing and gnashing of teeth like happened among Bohs fans when their real figures were publicised this season (some of their crowds last year were just as bad.
EL grounds are like good episodes of The Simpsons, no matter how many times you see them they're still funny
still cant see the point
I'll await
a) a aystem of automated turnstiling
b) independently audited figures being released publicly as part of this sytem
I won't be holding my breath
Thats why we keep it goingOriginally posted by wws

In fairness i'd never be able to guage the crowd at an away game cos don't know the capacities of the various sections of the ground. Turners Cross is easy enough to calculate as we know the capacity on the 3 seated sides. Terraces obviously a bit harder to calculate. I'd still be confident the turners cross season average to within 500 of actual number.
All this academic got be official figures next year?
