    Just announced there on fai.ie

Unlike Isaac Boss, we're very short at the back. I would imagine Staunton will put McShane in at RB, persist with Finnan at LB and, given the positive noises that have been made, continue with Dunne and O'Shea at CB. My kingdom for a Joey O'Brien, Paddy McCarthy and even a fit Ian Harte to flesh things out and put a healthier complexion on the defensive line-up, if only for numbers. One injury or suspension to any of our back four and Stan would be forced into a major reshuffle. The ominous prospect of Kilbane at left-back looms large and ugly on the horizon!

I think he'll stick with Doyle and Keane up front and have a real go at the Slovaks by playing four in midfield. McGeady, Carsley, Ireland and Reid. Hunt didn't convince in Aarhus unfortunately, so he'll be reduced to the role of 'impact sub' yet again.

That's my guess. Given in goal obviously - I just pray he recovers in time.

Looks good...no major omissions. It'll obviously be whittled down, just covering himself in case of injuries. I see Carrs definitely out, so we're actually pretty light on the defensive front.

I see Alan O'Brien is in again I've nothing against the lad but honestly what is going on there?

Does Alan O Brien? Personally Id have neither but I wonder if the hassle with Given is why Stokes lost out

i would rather reid in central midfield that on the wing, would control the game more.

Just looking at the fixture v Germany in October on the FAI website. It has the game down for Saturday with kick off at 7.45PM, I thought it was a 3PM kick off? Hope it is a late kick off,the atmosphere was so much better in Croker at night.Welsh game was just embarassing, game and atmosphere wise.

Alan O'Brien again? Waste of a space. Stan just being pig-headed I reckon. He needs to back down over that one. Jay Tabb should be there instead. I'd have included Morrison or Stokes instead of Murphy though who is very, very limited as a player and nowhere near International standard (nor will he ever be). If Keane or Doyle get injured/suspended we are fooked for strikers.

Jonathan Douglas needs to go also. Still can't believe Douglas and Darren Potter get into these squads ahead of Garvan though the reasons for this can be debated on that other thread.

    Other than that, happy enough.

Yeah you can play Mc Geady on the left and Ireland on the right and Carsley and Reid in the middle. All of these players are playing there for their clubs so it makes sense. Keane and Doyle up front and they are both playing there for their clubs and Mc Shane and Dunne centre backs. Finnan and O Shea as full backs. Basically you could have it that every player bar O Shea is playing in the position that they play week in week out for their club. O Shea is a utility guy anyway so hard to say what his position.

Ireland's playing through the middle for City, he's rarely on the wing for them. Elano is playing right wing for the most part.
He started on the right against Wales and was far more effective when he moved into the centre, where he started against Slovakia

I thought he was playing right side of midfield for them. I agree I think he is best in the middle.

There are three other obvious contenders there: Kelly at left back (where he played well against the Czechs) with either McShane or O'Shea partnering Dunne, or O'Shea at left back with McShane in the middle. They're all plausible.

Elano has been behind the striker, Ireland has played on the right the whole time.

I'd agree with Neil's midfield. Play Ireland on the right and have Finnan overlapping from right full for width. Andy Reid has to be played in the middle.

Don't agree, Andy Keogh is a class player.

Why the hell do we have 4 keepers?
