    change of sponsor

All alcohol sponsorship of sport is to be banned in the next two years so no more Guinness on the jersey.

Maybe City should look to Pfizers and have 'Viagra' on the jersey. A solid team that will stand up to anything

Any thoughts on a distinctive Cork sponsor?

    Maybe 'PROC'

Whoever it is, they need to drive a hard bargain and get a good deal. With the higer profile and increased coverage, this is worth a lot more tha it used to be.

Guinness been good but if it comes to an end so be it.

The top Premier division teams tend to get National brand sponsors as oppoed to most of the 1st division clubs gettting local sponsors.

To get something like Coca-Cola, Pepsi or similar as club sponsors would be good for promoting the club to a youinger audience. Alternatively a local brand that sells a national brand.

AFIK they actually will be alowed to get alcohol related sponcership, however, teams with such sponcership will not be alowed on tv before 8pm.

Barry's Tea would be a good replacement alright, as would Ford or maybe Dunlops. 02 and Vodafone seem to sponcer anything nowadays though. How about Red fm or 96fm? One of the pharmaceuticles (like Pfizer!) would be good as well.

Lennox's wouldn't work for obvious reasons!

The perfect sponser would be 'Air Magic'!

Someone mentioned Coca Cola or Pepsi.

The soft drink giants are currently scrapping over multi million pound deals in the UK for underage football.

Coca Cola have a deal for one of the junior leagues while Pepsi have signe a deal for the FA youth cup I think.

McDonalds sponsor Galway so why not Cork City?

And it's not as if theres only one of them - there are 4 McDonalds in the city and 1 in Mallow.

Why on earth would we want McDonalds on our shirts?
The City shirt would look just like a piece of litter from the junk food chain, strewn on Patrick's St.
There's a very interesting book called "Fast Food Nation" which some of you might want to read.
If we were choosing a sponsor then a local business with a genuine interest in the club would be good.
96FM would be alright as we'd have great media coverage.
What will happen however is that we'll accept the best deal on offer, be that from Durex or Dinos.

The 'Irish' Examiner or the Echo would also be ideal, although I suppose pictures of City players with Examiner accross them would never be printed in other papers then! How about tv3? Surely Trev has some pull?

Just as a matter of interest, how much would need to be stumped up, anyone know?
