Best News I've Heard for Yonks

A young Irish player that actually looked consistently good when he first broke into a Premiership team (unlike Ireland, Long, Stokes etc etc etc):

Hopefully he gets himself fit again.

And remember he was being played out of position too! Played as aright back but nominally sees himself as a centre mid player!

It will be good to see how he gets on with Sammy Lee.
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!

I'll second that was at the Sweden game and I was very impressed, hope he gets back to full fitness.
More great news on Terry Dixon

He really looked impressive in his first season. Its such a pity he missed a year of further develoment with this injury. We really need a central midfielder.Good luck to him.

I wouldn't say he missed a year of development. Hopefully he was spending that time studying the game and gaining a better understanding. Tactical awareness is as important as anything in football. Larsson said he learnt a lot in his time out with a broken leg.

Bit harsh on IReland, think he's looked consistently good in the Premiership

I was on another forum discussing this with some Bolton fans and they cant wait till he returns. They were giving out about Kevin Nolans form over the past 2 years and hoping that O'Brien might push him for his position. They all spoke of him very highly

I think O'Brien's a great prospect but actually thought he was a rabbit caught in the headlights at times against Sweden. I think people just hated O'Shea and Carr so much they'd have praised any alternative!

I can't see him developing into a great full-back. He's adequate there at present, no better. However when he's played in central midfield for Bolton (often he's switched there after a few substitutions) he looks good.

Consistently being referred to as a fullback though and unless he gets some gametime in midfield I'd worry about his future prospects there, started as a fullback in his comeback game last night alongside Andrew O'Brien against Man City Reserves.

That's a bit worrying ok. I thought he might start to get a few games in Central Midfield this year.

I'd be more worried about his prospects working under Sammy Lee at Bolton then as to where he plays. Bolton are like Charlton last year, established under the iron rule of one man who leaves and is succeeded by a flakey No.2. I just hope that if Bolton go down, Joey doesn't disappear into the wilderness.
