    Question Millstreet Celtic

Anyone confirm City are playing in Millstreet on Saturday? Where in Millstreet is the pitch?
    Thanks,
    Gerry

For me, this highlights one of the many problems with our club. I know Gerry brought Michael O'leary up on this point in the interview in the Celtic programme, but here we are 3 days before a rumoured friendly match and no one can confirm if it's going ahead or not. I, for one, don't fancy driving to Millstreet on Saturday only to find that there's no match on. Some people may say 'sure, it's only a friendly against Millstreet', but the situation we find ourselves in this week is symptomatic of the bigger picture. For the past two or three weeks, the start of every conversation I've had with every City fan I've met has been 'Any news on City?' And I know it's the off-season, but in many ways there's supposed to be more to talk about now than mid-season, yet we hear nothing, not even rumours! So I'll finish now and ask anyone from the club who's reading this to please let us know if there's a match this weekend or not?

Well said joe. The club will never cease to amaze me in this regard. It's well known that without supporters a club is nothing. However, Cork City FC act as if they would prefer if we did not turn up for these matches. Can any official or player reading these messages confirm this? Is it fair to say that the players would have preferred that supporters were not at the match against Cobh?

To the board of Cork City FC: We are the ones that pay ye're wages and the bills for ye're little outings to Latvia and the likes. Wake up before it's too late...

    Question Surprised?

Is anyone surprised? Sure theres no cash to be made by the club so they'll see whats the point in publicising + remember theres no Commercial Manager or any fulltime administrative staff (a disgrace!!) with the club now so City is really only a hobby to them?

You'd also think they'd get the new jerseys in before the start of the season to drum up a bit of interest in the club too. A lot easier to get punters in the gate at the start rather than the middle of the season?

Also interesting to see much smaller clubs than CCFC able to run a well maintained professional looking website. Were the club too ambitious with the official site to begin with?

    I take it nobody...

    ...knows about Saturday then?
I may be able to find out, but I won't know anything till tomorrow evening. If I can get confirmation I'll post here Friday morning. BTW, anyone know the pitch is, just in case it's on?

    No, it ain't...

...that big, but who's to say it's in or even near the town?

I just hoped someone might have said:
Take the 1st left after the creamery, right at the second next crossroads, up past Horgan's farm for two miles, down the narrow lane and up Slattery's Hill. You know, that kind of thing...

for a man who claims not to know where it is you sure do give detailed descriptions

this looks like the perfect opportunity to lauch phootball.com's competition slot, so the first person to confirm the match is on and come up with directions to Millstreet Celtic's ground wins a ticket to the match compliments of phootball.com.

that would be stretching the budget so we'll have to see about that one.

entries will only be accepted by private message to me, and the closing date is Friday at noon.

    Advance warning...

...as Millstreet Celtic are the home side I will accept NO criticism from Joe for not producing a programme...tell him to put the boot into Billy Pat Kelleher instead.

PS: for any not-too-bright surfers heading Millstreet way on Saturday, the earlier directions posted above bear no resemblance to any other directions living or dead.

    Jim,
maybe you could buy an eircom league club, not market it to anyone, build a disaster of a ground out in the sticks with inadequate parking, play with no floodlights on a ground you dont own with a bumpy pitch, hire a manager from england, then never get him to sign a contract, then let him steal any good young players we have when he leaves, then replace him with a professional manager, only not to support him and give him the sack later on in the season.

Na it could never happen...could it?

    James,

that never happened. You were told to keep taking the medication, but you knew better....

Still, look on the bright side - at least you weren't so sick as to imagine a link between City, Malmo and Celtic
