I'm looking forward to getting this out next week, can't wait to see it. I hear the soundtrack is pretty good too?
The soundtrack comes secondary to the visual impact. In fact, I cant even remember what the soundtrack for this movie was like...the play with lights, texture, focus, angles...I could go on forever

Like I said earlier, this is a beautifully shot film. Just checked on IMDB who did the cinematography (Roger Deakins) and found his list of work http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005683/

    Impressive list don't you think?

    I was thinking of this:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ass...8soundtrack%29

as Nick Cave is one if my favourite musicians but it may just be that he performs one song at the end according to his page.

And yeah, that's a hell of a CV!

Not seen it but reviews do not seem to be generous.

The book is a cracking read.

    "Lars and the Real Girl"

Just a fantastic film. Its very rare these days to have real depth to every character or to be able to have empathy for the characters. Quirky little tale, but really hooks you without resorting to clichés.

yeah caught it over here in the cinema. somewhat... okay. a few good jumps but also plenty of cliches that make you want to batter your head against the seat in front of you.

*MILD SPOILER ALERT* the ending just about saves it

Watched the Assassination of Jesse James - pretty good.

Notwithstanding his alleged good looks, Brad Pitt can act - he is excellent in this - he has a menace and understated darkness that prevades.

The scene stealer however is Nick Cave - top drawer
    DB Cooper is alive !

Thought the scenestealer for me was Sam Rockwell who I thought was fantastic in it , obviously Affleck and Pitt were very good too

Oh god... such an utterly dull and pointless vehicle for Brad Pitt's "serious" acting CV.

Hmmm... I have heard this from a view others, and it is clearly a valid view - irrespective of the vehicle, I thought he was very good in it.

I enjoyed the vehicle also but can see where you are coming from

I thought this film was brilliant. altho I could understand it wouldnt be everyones cup of tea. Not really a fan of Pitt but the star of the film was Casey(?) Affleck. The way the tension was built up all thru the film was great. Enjoyed it a lot more than No Country for Old Men.

yea i'd agree with you, that's the best performance i've seen him give. the film has lost a little of its oomph after all this time but his role is very well done.

Anyone watch Sidney Lumets(my fave director) BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOUR DEAD with Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Marissa Tomei, Ethan Hawke and Albery Finney?

Most reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes gave it a great review altough a couple felt it tried too hard.Personallly though while its no classic, its def worth watching.

yeah I watched it on DVD a few weeks ago. Very good movie, some nice twists and a solid 7 out of 10 for me. Hoffman and Hawke are both excellent.
