In fairness ... you have to expect to land with a bump as you've been trying to fly this "oh we're such a great club, we've got more luck than a lucky bag" cráp all along. Come down out of the clouds before you hurt yourselves and realise that SPL is the league you play in.
But in fairness i suppose you'd have to blame some of the people who have been taken in with all this shíte aswell.
Who's making excuses like?? The vast majority of Celtic fans I know have long realised that we have exceeded expectations and are aware that as long as Celtic are in a poor league like the SPL, then there is only so far you can go.

What do you mean by "taken in with all this sh!te"? Is there something wrong with supporting your team?

I reckon fair play to GCFCs marketing guy for roping in so many 'fans'. Thats just good business.

I just dont understand these die hard celtic fans who wouldn't know a real live game of football if it bit them in the ass.

By that do you mean the "armchair fans"? Because every team has them. The fans that go and watch the games are no different than anyone else, they pay their money so what's the problem?

Do you think that by watching an EL game makes you any different to them??

It doesnt make me a better person, but i cant for the life of me understand how a person could have any affinity to a club with which they have no connection.

Like many people, I enjoy sitting down to watch a match, sometimes even head to the pub to do so, but it always make me laugh with sympathy to see grown men down the pub, wearing 'their' teams colours to watch a game.

As far as I see it, Celtic is a bandwagon- which Irish people are only too happy to jump on.

In an utterly apalling twist of fate, I was actually bitten on the ass the day after last summers Celtic vs Fulham friendly. I can fully vouch that the two experiences were quite different and there's no mistaking one for the other.

    Because they're Scottish.

Also they wouldn't be allowed a la Wimbledon.

My anger last night was that RTE showed that match. The champions league on and who do they show? Two crap teams who have no chance of winning the competition. Why didnt they show Inter v valencia which was obviously the match of the night.

As for the night before that giving us a liverpool team with no chance against ao ff form La Coruna. Surely the match to show was Juve V Bayern Munich. Nedved wont live forever and i want to see him as much as i can.

Do any of you bitter EL boys realise that it is precisely your 'us and them' attitude that stops alot of people from wanting to go to a game at home. Smallminded people who in another era would be spouting IRA propaganda.Don't see the harm in wanting to support whoever ya like in whatever country, after all it is the people's game.

On the Celtic thing,MON has worked wonders given the resources and if any of you EL fans honestly think that youse could get to a UEFA final with that sort of backing:" Yer havin' a laff"

There are planty in the last few years who have gotten that far or won the competition recently with less resources than Celtic of Glasgow

Feyenoord, Alaves and Salzberg are three that spring to mind.

I am worried! For the first time in my life I find myself agreeing with someone for Cork!

You have summed it all up perfectly! The best post I have read since joining.

So what about the vast majority of Irish people that support e.g. Liverpool or Man Utd? Are they all mad too for supporting a team that they have no affinity with?

If anything it's understandable that so many Irish people support Celtic, the first thing that drew me to them was whenever I saw them on telly when I was young, I always saw loads of Irish flags at the games. That is naturally going to please any young Irish man who loves their country. You don't see too many of them flying about in the Premiership so what draws people to support them?

I personally don't give a sh!te about the argument about whether they are an "Irish" or "Scottish" club, all I know is that any club that celebrates it's links to Ireland is ok in my book.

If that makes people think that I jumped on the proverbial "bandwagon", then look a bit closer to home and ask yourself why you support some Premiership team on the side.

I doubt Barcelona or Milan would see the other two teams in the group as particularly strong. Not having a go at Celtic here, just looking at who they've brought in. Henri Camara from Wolves is hardly a big Euro star, is he?

Well, apart from the fact that he's African, I'll take your point.

I'm under no illusions where Celtic are concerned, btw. By failing to invest properly in the playing squad of the club, the board have overseen a step back in footballing terms. Our squad is paper-thin and Wednesday night showed just how thin.

As usual, a thread on Celtic turning into an argument, never.
Its crazy to see people be what society wants them to be but not me.
