So who does that give us in the quarters then :
- Derry
- Longford
- Cork
- UCD
- Pats
- Douglas Hall/Limerick
- Waterford/Sligo
- ?????
From that list, you'd have to fancy a Cork v Pats final - depending on what draws they get obviously. City's progress will depend totally on the draws we get.
Bohs/Malahide you're missing.
Limerick/Douglas Hall looks like the draw to get. Not a huge amount between the rest. Assuming Sligo and Bohs win, then you've got teams 3 to 7 in the Premier and the bottom one. Even then, the two bottom teams out of that (Longford and UCD) have a good Cup record in recent years and will be tough to beat in a one off game.
As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our balls
The second-best team on the pitch went out tonight. We had an ok first half, and an absolutely horrendous second half, which is to take nothing away from Harps who played very well throughout despite the awful weather conditions. They passed and moved better than most teams I've seen at the Brandy this year, certainly a level above Longford last week. That said, they could have played all night and wouldn't have got a goal such was their lack of clear chances. We didn't look like we were at the races at all and had an equaliser been scored there would have been no complaints whatsoever. Obviously pleased we're through but for what it's worth the moral victory went south of the border tonight. Harps looked every bit as confident and hungry as we've been led to believe in recent weeks and I'd have no problem betting on them taking their place in the Premier come next March.
Are you sure you were at the same match? We could have had 4 in the first half, Paddy with 2 excellent crosses low into the box that we should have finished, Hargy had a superb effort saved. Granted 2nd half we were poor but Harps although playing some good football didnt really threaten. To say we were awful and hoofed all night is a load of ********!!
McCourt had a wonderful first half. We(Harps) couldnt stop him so tried to cut of supply.Conditions were terrible so it would be harsh on both teams to deny it was decent stuff.Harps were very good till we got to the last third where we needed a bit more craft.Oman was excellant for Derry and they just about deserved it.I have really enjoyed the media coverage/build up and banter that precedes a NW Derby.I let the Derry boys tell you about their prematch display themselves. You had to see it to believe it.
We have to concentrate on promotion now and hopefully this wont damage our momentum.
Here's a bit of unedited footage of the atmosphere in the Derry end.

Let's hope Harps get promoted this season, so we can look forward to more such big nights for both clubs in future.
He`s still clearly unfit, but showed enough to confirm his reputation. Good strength , excellent ball control. Connors was crazy to play him, probably wanted something to focus ( divert attention) on in his post match interview.
He was as good as anybody else was out there. It was a pretty unforgiving type of match. Malahide got a lot of bodies behind the ball, got away with a lot of niggley little stuff should have had at least one peno awarded against them in the first half.
Bohs generally looked completely disinterested. Have to say that based on that it's hard to make any kind of judgement on the lad, but if I had to I'd be positive.
