Coleman was like mustard today.
Good run by McCarthy for the goal making Coleman's job easier.

Bit like Santa really.
Koeman gave McCarthy a nice little embrace when he took him off in injury time as well. I've a feeling he was just afraid of McCarthy picking up a second yellow and missing the Merseyside derby on Monday, as Jagielka did moments later. Obviously he was just wasting a few seconds as well but a defensive midfielder wouldn't normally be the guy you'd choose to replace in that situation. It was a badly need outing for McCarthy anyway and great that they got such a positive result.
I think it's safe enough to assume that Koeman does rate him to a certain extent at least. Koeman mentioned in his interview afterwards as well that he was frustrated with Everton's apprehensive approach in the opening twenty minutes, that they were nervous and passing the ball backwards instead of forwards and that they have to learn from the results their more positive play brought thereafter. Hopefully it works out for McCarthy under him as he could be just the man to drag him out of his shell a bit.
Great to get such a positive result my ar$e
"drag him out of his shell a bit". Mr. Trapattoni's description still rings true: "a little shy".
Not too encouraging that Everton and Man Utd have been in contact over a potential deal for Schneiderlin.
Replaced by Gareth Barry at half time in the Merseyside derby. He seemed to tweak his hamstring near the end of the first half and was receiving treatment. Was playing pretty well too.
Everton were putrid in the second half without him and deserved every bit of that sucker punch.
You don't sound too grieved by that result on behalf of our Irish lads at Everton?
The football quality was poor, double expresso, hyperactive, adhd stuff.
God be with the glorious golden days when players had skill and time on the ball to display their repertoire of tricks. Now it's all helter skelter, run-around-a-lot.
In fairness McCarthy goin off changed the game. Pool got lallana onto a lot more ball and Barry just couldn't cover the ground that McCarthy does. McCarthy was far crisper in his passing in first half than Everton were in second
I was hoping they'd hold out as I've no great love for Liverpool but they got what they deserved for their lack of ambition in the second half, they seemed to settle for restricting Liverpool alone from an early stage. The circumstances of the game didn't help with two enforced substitutions but they still had enough decent players to carry more of a threat than they did.
As commendable as it was showing faith in that young winger also, it never seemed likely to have the desired effect. I thought Mirallas would have been the obvious option in the circumstances and would have probably withdrawn Lennon instead of Valencia, who was just starting to show some signs that he might do something.
The match against Arsenal last week was helter skelter stuff as well but much more enjoyable, less disjointed anyway.
Koeman mentioned the good job that McCarthy had been doing in the first half in his post match interview, so it's been a positive few days for him at least (outside of yet another injury obviously).
There must be an international break coming up.
Didn't see the game but along with Coleman, gets the highest rating (8) from the Daily Telegraph for an Everton player. These injuries he constantly picks up are worrying though.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
Played well got through the miles and put the tackles in.
Lets talk about six baby
Koeman still moaning about Ireland playing McCarthy in the two games and yet says he was fully fit for the Arsenal game https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2016...erton-without/
A hint that it's all our fault and then a contradiction in the next sentence.

Everton have agreed a fee with Man Utd for Schneiderlin per Sky sources.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton will only sell McCarthy permanently in this window.
Hopefully to Man Utd.... Just kidding.
DID YOU NOTICE A SIGN OUTSIDE MY HOUSE...?

"sell McCarthy permanently" permanantly confused me as I have never know a non-permanent sale, mind you I am not a solicitor.
