That's really atrocious stuff. They were speculating the other day whether or not Rooney would partner (the suspended!) Ibrahimovic up front against Arsenal.
Usual standards of reporting from the Independent today: http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...-35228975.html
McCarthy has made three starts this season, including Everton's two opening league fixtures. If everyone could reply to the linked article with this, that would be great

He was pretty poor today although he did some good tracking and made one lovely cross field pass. Crowd seemed to get on his back for any mistake he made so maybe that clouded my analysis
Coleman's late goal made made it look better for him, a defeat would not have been good for him on his return, but it still effectively 2 points dropped.
Typical McCarthy. "Injured" for the international but miraculously recovers for the next league game![]()
Praise the Lord.
Meanwhile Ronald assumes the role of the supreme benefactor, the one who alone decides whether James will travel or not travel to Dublin in March.
Rules around intl call-ups which totally favour the country, don't matter a jot to a guy as elevated as Ronald.
His latest quote
"They are defending the Irish national team and I'm defending Everton. The next international break is in March. It's time enough to focus on the Premier League and in March we will see how the Irish national team is."
The nonsense continues.
McCarthy unnamed in the squad this afternoon after Koeman made his point last week.
Talk of a loan move to Celtic.
Suffered a recurrence of a hamstring problem: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport...rtons-12238543
I retract my previous comment but remain wary of Koeman.
Koeman continues to be belligerent about McCarthy.

If this is him throwing his toys out of the pram because he wasn't allowed to sign Sissoko, you have to laugh, because Sissoko has been rubbish for Tottenham by all accounts.
I thought I knew what belligerent meant but now I'm not sure.
On the bench today against United
Back in the starting XI today against Watford, Coleman at right full too
Interesting as Gueye and Barry also started. The LiveScore app suggests that McCarthy is playing the number ten role, or at least further forward than the other two but I haven't seen any of it myself. They've just gone 2-1 behind though.
Playing well tonight against Arsenal. Lennon could have squared it to him after he occupied a good position unmarked, but rather chose to go it alone and blasted it into the stands.
Can't say he's going missing anyway. He's winning tackles, showing good touches and getting into good positions.
He's not the worst of them, but they're losing again so the pressure cooker atmosphere will continue unabated.
Edit: Just laid one on for Lukaku.
I thought he started nervously, which wasn't surprising seeing as his (counter productive) supporters get on his back any time he takes the safer option, even when it's obviously the better course of action. Everton seemed to lose their inhibitions after going behind and just started tearing into it, which suits McCarthy's game down to the ground. He's muscled into a nice few tackles and has picked up a booking. Good old fashioned match now though which Arsenal don't exactly relish. Coleman equalised with a nice header after drifting inside to meet a Baines cross just before half time.
Neither really, he was just standing in the middle of the box waiting for the cross.![]()
