Did you not see the stats i put up. He has in almost every season, STARTED at least 30 league games. The most he can start is 38. Only two seasons he started less that 30, and he was in the 20s for those seasons. You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, but it is a wrong opinion. Even yesterday looking at Gary Neville, it is evident how much O'Shea is missed at the moment

I'm not reading the whole debate but JOS is one of Man United most influential players these days, unquestionably number 1 right back at the moment and they're suffering without him.

Incidentally, until his injury, O'Shea had stared all but 6 games of United's games at that point
The games he didn't start were:
- 22 August VS Wigan Introduced on 72 minutes
- 15 September VS Besiktas Not in squad
- 23 September VS Wolves Not in squad (League Cup)
- 17 October VS Bolton Introduced on 83 minutes
- 27 October VS Barnsley Unused substitute (League Cup)
- 3 November VS CSKA Moscow Unused Substitute
Any post match comments from McCarthy or from Martinez on McCarthy's performance?
Went to the game yesterday and McCarthy looked class. Proper box to box player and looks like a complete all-rounder in the Gerard/Lampard mould. Obviously scored a good goal, but also played a beautiful ball to release Rogdallega who should have made it 3-0. He's definitely filled out since moving down here and is a lot taller than I expected (looks to be about 6ft/6.1). Definitely has the self-confidence to be a top, top player and on that showing I seriously think we have something special on our hands. Having been equally impressed with McCann at Burnley whan I saw him I reckon these two in the middle (let alone the development of players like Meyler, Clifford etc) will mean that we have our centre midfield sorted for the next ten years. Cap him in the first competitive game we have - I won't be happy until we have 100% assurance that he's ours.
As for the Wolves Irish, Ward was one of our better players although got skinned by N'Zogbia (who was class) for the 2nd goal, Foley is not a winger, although will hopefully get his chance at Rightback after that reckless eejit Stearman got sent off and Doyle held the ball up well but didn't get a lot of service, with the fans now baying for Keogh to come back from injury after Ebanks Blake had another nightmare. All in all, sh*te and McCarthy/Morgan have to seriously spend some money on Premiership quality rather than championship deadwood if we are going to stay in this division. Although Keogh (rather stupidly) said in the post-match presentation that he knew that Stephen Hunt wanted to come to us - which would be a step in the right direction.

EBB seems to be shot of confidence alright, cant see him turning it around this season. Is Keogh really rated highly by the Wolves fans? Am not convinced but he did start the season very well for Wolves before the injury.

He was asked about McCarthy about 01.30 in and had some complimentary things to say about James. "We all know what he's capable of and what talent he has". "We will see a lot more from him".

watched the game in full yesterday. Agree totally with your summary MIW. His touch and passing in those tight triangle situations in midfield was remarkable. He managed to be in the right place at the right time in the box on quite a few occasions and he could have had more than one goal yesterday in truth. He is going to be an awesome player with some more fitness and experience in the premier league. Great to see.
Ward was good, you can still see the winger in him but that said his positioning is surprisingly good. Again, more experience and we will have a viable solution for LB.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
Having witnessed the failings and limitations of their messiah this season (SEB), a lot of the moronic boo-boys seem like they are finally beginning to realise how much Keogh actually contributes to the team. First and foremost he is an intelligent footballer who brings other players into the team well with his interlinking play, runs down the channels and relentless workrate - as opposed to SEB who is the classic last shoulder striker, but does not have the work rate, runs or seemingly football intelligence to do anything else (I'm not writing him off completely as he is young enough to improve). Keogh's problem is that he is not a natural goalscorer (but may improve), however as is being argued by most these days, it is better to have someone up front who doesn't score contributing something, rather than nothing. Every one realises that Doyle is a class above, so the supply line to him is the most important thing, plus Keogh creating space is more likely to create openings for the likes of Milijas and Kightly (who always plays better with Keogh linking up with him) to score, much like Doyle and Keane do for the Irish midfield. Doyle and Keogh looked like they had a good connection when we played Sunderland - so hopefully they'll be able to reunite that shortly. Having said that, we desperately need to buy another striker - however overall Keogh looks to have found the step easier than SEB.

I've always been impressed by Keogh, when he played at club level. His workrate is wonderful. Obviously he needs a bit more composure in front of goal but I reckon that will come. At international level, I can't really remember him been given a chance is his proper position. One thing for sure is he is not a winger. I've seen him criticised on here for his performances for Ireland which is unfair as he is always played out of position. Hopefully he will be back soon. Great to see McCarthy making progress and now we need McCann to recover soon and start showing he can do it at the highest level.

I think it's your interpretative ability that is way off.
Took his goal brilliantly, looked pretty composed in slotting it away, if only he'd followed up the penalty instead of Sharner.
Although, I'd say the ref's been reading this forum if he thought that McCarthy running away from goal toward a high bouncing ball was a direct goalscoring chance to send Stearman off.
Don't think it was a straight red. He had been booked earlier on in the game so I think that was his second yellow card.

The Brazil match would be nice for his debut for the Senior team, if he keeps this form up he could be in with a shout.
McGeady made his debut against Jamaica at a time when Scotland were making overtures for him to declare for them (read before he was brought to a meeting with Berti Vogts) which tied him to us, and allowed him to continue with the U21's without the debate about his international allegiance brewing around him.
I know the rules have changed slightly, but I'd have no problems at all with McCarthy coming on to receive a long kick out in the final minute of the Brazil game if it ended the same talk that's going on with him.
