I don't think McCarthy's loyalty is in doubt anymore and he's happy to play at under-age level for us until he's ready.

Sounds like he's coming back from injury anyway with Martinez talking about easing him into training.
I don't think it's an injury- I just read somewhere that Martinez said his fitness wasn't high enough for the Premier League.
Maybe he had a lazy summer and just didn't show up in top condition? I doubt Hamilton had top level fitness trainers anyway.
that's harsh, he was fit enough to play more than 40 times last season. You wouldn't survive in the SPL if you weren't able to run for the length of the game, it's fast and furious stuff.

Not in the squad either tonight. Martinez is a good manager and I reckon he will develop McCarthy as a player this season. The lad is very young and away from home for the first time, could be a while before we see him in first team action.
if he's in or around the first team in the new year then he might force his way into Traps plans if we are going to South Africa...

last 20 mins of the game was very disjointed with many stoppages in play. gibson was on the ball a few times and had one good shot from long range that tested kirkland. dont think mccarthy touched the ball.
