as much as i want to see mccarthy i wouldnt throw him straight into a qualifer next month. by all means have him in the squad and if were in a good position get him capped.
The thing that is being overlooked here and its the most worrying part for me is Mccarthy will now not be playing against Macedonia because of traps reluctance to throw someone into the fray he hasn't had time to work with.now that is understandable from the point of view of green whelan Andrews Gibson etc, however Mccarthy is proven calibre and could easily slot in and do a very good job for us but we won't see it next month. It takes a great manager to show confidence and belief in player and young up and coming players when the time is needed in pressure situations. That time is next month.
There are many reasons why nxt month is a bull and not a bear market.

Yes i would.if he is not up to scratch then he can always be replaced. He is back with a bang imagine in a month what he will be like? His first proper international, a competitive game at home in front of all his family in the new aviva against a team we are favourites to beat. finally putting to bed all the nonsense about his desire to play for Ireland busting a gut to prove how much he green keane to him. Just some of the reasons why nxt month is ideal.
Vs a potential v tough away tie in a daunting venue in former eastern bloc.
I say this cos i don't see him making an appearance at all from.the bench or starting duggie.
Not to do with JMcC at all but I have to pull you up there on the J Kenny being a great DJ thing you've mentioned twice there. He did the 2fm Metal Show for years there in the 90's and he hadn't a bulls notion of what he was on about. Pronouncing bands names wrong the whole time etc. Think he admitted at one stage that he didn't even like metal and his favourite band was the Clash.
Anyway! To keep on topic I've had a bad feeling about McCarthy for ages now. There is rumour and counter-rumour. He could come out with a statement that puts all our minds at rest but to be honest I could see if he was getting disillusioned with the vibes coming from Trap and the Irish camp.

Ya bot.fair point but his metal show top ten was good and his sign off 'have a great weeeweeek tiiiilllll nxt week bi' or 'have a crackiiiiiiing good weeeweeek til nxt week bi' was cool.plus he played some great tunes by amorphis, pro pain, cruachan etc small bands who with no internet at the time i would never have heard of them or many more.
Would it be too much for the FAI or the Trap to call McCarthy after the game and tell him they are looking forward to seeing him next month? Sort this crap out once and for all. If he's fit next month he plays in my book. He's so far ahead of our current pass the ball sideways central midfielders.....

Junior, if he has, good. I'm not out searching every article written on individual Ireland players. Trying to keep up to date with the daily madness of Celtic supporting here in Scotland is challenging enough, so if I've missed out on a definitive statement from him, well thats my own tough ****.
However, there was a strong argument for getting James capped when he was still at Hamilton, putting this circus to rest. It must be coming up on 2 years since he left them so you can hardly blame fellas for getting a bit anxious when on the eve of another international match he is again out of the squad. I'm not blaming him as such. Think Trappers and the Irish set-up could have handled this waaaay better but I think we are all just eager to see him in a green jersey and tied down to us for good.

Very badly handled by Trap. It was a cert that the media would start asking questions. Not picking McCarthy in the 29. King picking McCarthy for the U21's. Suddenly picked in the whittled down senior squad. Arrogant buffonery and very bad man management. If this was Stan he would be crucified. Paul McGrath (nasal congestion), Ronnie Whelan (serial friendly game misser) and many other former greats would not have lasted 10 minutes with this current regime. It feels like Givens has taken over the team.
McCarthy should have had a full cap donkeys years ago, then we would not have this nonsense.
Complete ****-up by Trap/FIA.
I'm a bloke,I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers,I'm a labourer by day,
I **** up all me pay,Watching footy on TV,
Just feed me more VB,Just pour my beer,And get my smokes, And go away
im sure the FAI could insist that trap cap him as soon as possible even if its for 5 minutes if they wanted. done and dusted.
when u see some of the dross Trap picks in the squad and then we still havent tied McCarthy down.......Trap is a liability and he is nothing else
