Stretchered off. Hard to say what kind of injury, I didn't see the leg buckling, snapping or anything on the replays.
either way it looks like he will be out for a while.
This gives trap the excuse nto to pick him even if he plays all the games up until competitive matches, because he wont have been tried out in friendlies....its bad news for us either way and bad news for him if its something serious.

This is all I could get on it :
27 McCarthy is going to have to go off and is being replaced by Diame.
26 McCarthy seems to be in a bad way. It will be interesting to see whether he'll be able to continue in this one.
24 Muamba is perhaps a touch unlucky there to avoid a booking for bringing down McCarthy. The Scottish youngster is down injured.

"We lost because we didn't win"- Ronaldo
very bad luck. Hope he has a speedy recovery.
Chris Kamara just said....."he twisted his ankle underneath his leg, and it looked a bad one".
Make of that what you will.
SSN seem to think it's an ankle injury.
Yeah, he's in enough pain without people pointing out he's from Scotland. Hope it's just one of those "looks bad but really isn't" injuries.
He's still in the ground according to the latest update...not shifted to hospital yet so hopefully not as bad as feared
I have a head only Snow White would love
Run it off James!

Martinez thinks it's a bad one. X-Ray over the w/e.
Our CM jinx strikes again: Healy a few years back and now McCann, Meyler, J. O'Brien and McCarthy - all likely CM contenders for the current side.
Sean Scannell (wide right) is another young lad with a long term injury to add to the list in the Ciaran Clark thread.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez fears the worst about James McCarthy's ankle injury after the midfielder was carried off in today's 1-1 draw with Bolton at the DW Stadium.
The 19-year-old was left writhing in agony following Fabrice Muamba's challenge midway through the first half and received lengthy treatment on the pitch before leaving on a stretcher.
Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni had stated he would call up McCarthy for next month's friendly with Norway but the Wigan youngster's participation is now unlikely.
McCarthy, who has played in all Wigan's Premier League games this season, was taken to hospital, and player and manager must now wait for the results of an X-ray that will determine how long he will spend on the sidelines.
Martinez said: 'He's gone to the hospital and we'll get the results over the next 24 hours but it doesn't look too good.
'It's a real shame because he's a very young man but he's very mature on the pitch and he's been performing in a very special manner.'
The Spaniard, though, did not attach any blame to Muamba for the challenge, which was from behind but came after Latics captain Antolin Alcaraz put his team-mate in trouble with a poor pass.
'It's a difficult ball for a midfielder - it's a straight ball,' continued Martinez. When you look at the replay, he clearly gets his ankle first.
It's disappointing. The intent is to play the ball. It's from behind. It's one of those actions - you're sending your team-mate into the lion's den. But he's young and he's very, very fit and we hope it's not as bad as it looks.'
Bolton boss Owen Coyle saw the situation in much the same way and is keeping his fingers crossed McCarthy is not seriously injured after watching him come through the ranks at Hamilton, who he left to join Wigan last summer.
Coyle said: 'My thoughts are to make sure he's okay because I've known him as a young kid progressing all the way through in Scotland to where he is now, and there's no doubt he's destined for a glittering career. Hopefully he's back very soon. Certainly from my position it looked an innocuous challenge. They both went to shut the ball.'
At least it doesn't look like a leg break.

Well if it was really bad I expect we would have heard news by now?
I mean it only takes a few minutes to get an X-ray done.
Even if it's not broken he could still be out for a good while, as in rest of the season.
His legs look reasonably 'leg-shaped' so lets hope it is not as bad as feared.
If he has done the ankle ligament I know from experience that its incredibly painful and slow enough to heal
Its really not that complicated!!!
