First time he has scored 2 in a game since Dec 1909.
His first was supposed to be a bit good.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Against some minnows called Newton Heath.

I think he has gone 69 games with out a goal and then scores 2 in the same game!!!
Bit like buses you wait forever and then 2 turn up at the same time.
Both his goals were very good: http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/wigan-2-qpr-2/
From the Guardian's 10 Talking Points. Considering midfield was our weakest point only a few months ago, to now have McCarthy and Gibson playing like they are....it's just great. McCarthy the midfield maestro
Roberto Martinez rarely criticises his players but there were reasons why he was particularly effusive in his praise of James McCarthy on Saturday. The midfielder's two goals were his stand-out contributions but his passing was typically excellent and he was the most composed player in an often frantic game. "I think technically it is difficult to find a better player," said Martinez. "You probably saw a more eye-catching display when he was on the ball and when he drove forward it was quite impressive. From a technical point of view he can play in any team in the world and he will do one day." Keeping hold of the Ireland international is a priority in January and, as an unworried Martinez said, even Cristiano Ronaldo had his price. Richard Jolly
As I said the key thing for me is the scarcity of his goals, I just looked at Glenn Whelan's record, and if I am correct he has scored just 1 in his last 126 games.
OK maybe scoring goals is not their job but I'd still expect a few more goals from them.
Keith Andrews did get 12 in total last season tough, that's a goal every 4 games. However all but 1 were in the Championship.
But that was a big one that Whelan scored Tricky!
PS Did anyone read about how the Serbian gov't says there is a vampire on the loose in one of their towns?
WTF?
No Somos muchos pero estamos locos.
James McCarthy >>> Serbian vampire
Looks like scud missile isn't dead after all.
DID YOU NOTICE A SIGN OUTSIDE MY HOUSE...?
Martinez's comments in the paper today lifted my soul. He said he'll be challenging for titles one day, there's no two ways about it. Will be great to see an Irish player fulfill his full potential and hopefully when it happens we can again say we have one of the best midfielders in Europe in our side.
I think he is good.
But i have not see anything to merit all the hype that he can be world class. Hopefully he will prove me wrong.
I'm a bloke,I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers,I'm a labourer by day,
I **** up all me pay,Watching footy on TV,
Just feed me more VB,Just pour my beer,And get my smokes, And go away
Where's all this hype?
Martinez (his manager) confidently predicts that McCarthy, one day will be good enough to get into an EPL team that is challenging for the title.

Martinez has been hyping him to the last for ages now. Gareth Barry and John Obi Mikel are in teams challenging for titles but I get the impression that Martinez has Mac on a much higher pedestal than that. I'm a big McCarthy fan but I think Paul has a point that those kind of comments might not be completely justified yet. Then again Martinez works with him every day so let's hope he's spot on!
