not sure about that now...in the youths cup 1st round this year the league called off all the games the first day and the next day the venues were switched around

not the first time ive seen this on here,i spose its football again this time. bunratty will need a full/near full squad to cause an upset, dont know why teams tolerate players goin off to play football whenever they want or when its on and still play these half committed players.

i hate to say it but avenue shudn't have much trouble now but you never know

no sympathy for them they knew the situation with certain players committed to playing other sports when they signed them ... rather than give 100 % to bunratty they are letting club & fellow players down if i was a manager i would not be intrested in signing any of these players .. but if bunratty have such a big talented squad they should also be able to cope with 3-4 players missing

So old git would you say if you were the manager of newtown, you would not be interested in signing noel donnelon because he went off playing gaa instead of a newtown match? Also would you say he has let his club and fellow players down?? I dont think so.....

Its an unfair on teams that play teams early on in the league with full panel.

Then other teams have to play them when they are under strength.
If you're in the penalty area and don't know what to do with the ball, put it in the net and we'll discuss the options later

Is this talk of bunratty missing players just a wind up a few days before the game?? As i said already reagarding this game bunratty have a lot of good players but if we play to our potential we will progress.

Lads, the rule is simple. if rineanna are unable to play at home because of their pitch and newmarkets pitch is playable then the tie will go ahead in newmarket.however, if both pitches are unplayable then the home team i.e rineanna will not lose home advantage.what i dont understand is that who has the authority to decide whether a game should go ahead.

On the note of dual players, i think bunratty made the mistake of relying too much on players that prefer other codes.in newtowns case, noel donnelan missed maybe three games but the difference is that they have someone to replace him when he is out.that is where managers must be cautious when signing players.

If the clare league call off all games across the board this weekend, all home teams will have another opportunity to have the deferred game played at their pitches. If however the clare league decide that they will look at the ties individually and home pitches are unplayable then they will be transferred to away teams pitches if playable. That as far as im aware is the rule so it all depends on what the powers that be do. The wuestion is though as mentioned above who decides if the pitch is playable? Are home teams like Rovers going to give up home advantage so easily?

Exactly Noel Donnellan has missed 3 games for Newtown because of GAA since 1993 - so thats right kick him off the panel for treason He was dropped in the following games and that was the end of it.
you are only a loser when you stop trying. Playing sport does not build character, it reveals it.

side cutter i think you are just trying to stir the sh*t here with the newtown lads.. if i was manager of newtown / avenue / newmarket / lifford etc i would not be intrested in signing any gaa heads,,
to use noel donnelon as an example is crazy anybody who knows hime or has seen him play will know he is newtown through & through.. and as papa-j said only missed 3 games in over 15 years ...
as for letting club down & fellow players down i would still say he did but this is my own opionion .. there are plenty of other clubs out there full of gaa heads who are playing soccer to keep fit.. and this is why clare league will never switch to summer soccer as they do not have the b*lls to stand up to these clubs in case they upset them

apologies if i have upset anybody involved with bunratty nothing personal just a rant about clare league clubs signing & getting let down by gaa heads during the season

Lads its a fact of life that soccer in Clare will always be affected by GAA. This is because every club is either from a village or a town where clubs are competing for the same players. I would think that the cities are the only leagues that dont have this problem. Now can we move on to more interesting issues like the cup this weekend..

Have the Clare league ever considered splitting the league in two? East and West. As a neutral observer who doesn't really watch Clare Football but is aware of the problems this seems a possible solution.
Newtown, Newmarket, Lifford, Avenue, Bridge Utd, Bridge Celtic and Shannon Olympic (there could possibly be more) all could play in the East section.
Then the west section which it seems to me are all GAA clubs could play away their own league, with the possibility of summer soccer afforded to the east.
    Barca 2 vs manchester 0
