From what I recall Pa Mull had an average of 4 players for 4 training sessions over a 2 week period,no wonder he left, any sane person would..Severe lack of commitment. And that paying 160 at the start of the year is a horrible idea too, most clubs just sell individual tickets per week.Corbally's lotto can't be that bad that they have to tie down people at the start of the year for it, can it?

Thats way to much money to expect people to pay up to be honest..Surely there is some way that teams can arrange a certain amount to pay each sunday morning(or whenever a game is on) that each player brings 10euro to each game and hands it over...That covers u then for your insurance for the year and your lotto and whatever???

I didnt say that!!! read my post again, and you'll see that we hope to pick up at least a point in each of the away games v Aisling & Corbally, but in fairness away to Pike could be a write off.

When the going got tough he bailed as did some of the players he brought with him. A few of their better players that remained aren't always available to them as they're in college in far flung places and such. They've done well to get themselves into a position where they have a good fighting chance of staying up.
so ye have lost 8 players or so in the past season, we've lost at least 12 squad players since the end of last season to now alone, plus none of our "B" players will play with the "A" team, and we're still in with a chance.

Can't do much if theres a severe lack of commitment, can't do anything unless the players WANT to play...You can't force anyone to do anything these days..

I have a question for all genuine Pike supporters. Do you think Pike are making any progress or development off the pitch? It appears that alot of other local clubs seem to be progressing with regards to pitches, training facilities, changing rooms....Pike have a income from the clubhouse bar and functions which many teams in Limerick don't have yet they seem to be able to upgrade changing rooms and improve training facilities. For over two years now, Pike have been selling bricks to towards the new changing rooms yet no plans or work have been shown or has taken place. Pike appears to be one of the leading teams on the field yet off the field they are falling further and further behind as each season goes by. The current state and the decline of the pitch is only proof of this. What are your opinions?

Current state and decline? Still the best pitch in limerick bar none.Decline?Where? And compared to what?3 pitches(1 floodlit),Secure parking facilities, fully functioning bar and clubhouse, massive hall upstairs.Only thing that needs improving is the dressing rooms I'll give you that. The fully piped and drained pitch is still one of the only in Limerick thats playable 365 days a year.

I agree with you, all the facilities you mentioned are there but they have existed for years now. There has been no IMPROVEMENT in facilities for several years or even an attempt to use the income been generated by the club for the club. The pitch is playable all year round but I feel the standard of the pitch this year isn't as good as it used to be or even should be.

Also 3 pitches???? From what I know there are two pitches and a cattle field with lights on it that players train on. Hardly the definition of a pitch.

Your talking rubbish in my opnion - The Pike field has been immaculate any time i have seen it this season and as said above is one of only a very few pitches that is playable all year around.
As for selling bricks well this has to be done in my opinion as Pikes income from the bar is not that great because of how out of the way the clubhouse is,you could go up there on any week night and you would be lucky to have a handful of people there.
Also dont think your comment that they have fallen behind off the pitch recently is fair.Maybe you could have said that a few years ago when they had no schoolboy teams but certain members of the club have worked hard the last few years and now they have a good few schoolboy teams so that in my opinion can only be looked on as progress.

Falling further behind ??????? we have 7 school boy team's 5 years ago we had none..bar / clubhouse running at a profit..the best playing surface in limerick (x2)..never had a game called off because the pitch was unplayable...new dressing rooms held up because of planning permission..new committee lead by John Walsh, who I might add is doing a fantastic job...no debts hanging over the club..if this is falling behind other clubs...every club in Limerick is in serious trouble
