Then the ref that turns up if his match is off wants paying. Again how much? If he is not needed at all should he get half as you suggest above. If he refs for 5 or 10 mins only, then how much should he get. Who pays the extra ref for turning up.

Sorry for being pessimistic with regards this but I think there is no easy solution to this situation.

Anyway how many matches are abandoned due to refs get injured during a game? Probably less than 5 the whole season??

well one solution would be to have say a bank of on call ref's that could be available or if they call a match of fin one place make themselfs available. what was the ref like for star/ boro match the weekend
    we hold up the division

Whats the pick of the ties for Thursday you reckon? Im not allowed watch Summerville anymore due to my last 2 visits so might take in a mid-week game. Boro/Balla I presume?

it's a solution alright. Something has to be done and put in place. There's enough games called off every sunday for there to be a few extra ref's to be available for when this happens again. Say for example it's a big FAI game and a team say from Donegal are after coming down to Limerick. The ref gets injured after 70 or 80 mins what happens then match has to be replayed. I know one of the linesmen could take over but who then takes over from him?

And thats not even considering Fairview & Regional who can both reach 55pts, and Aisling who can reach 53pts.

Sorry bud, but I think the Boro will be lucky to finish in the top 4 this season.

    My top six.
    Balla
    Pike

    Regional
Boro (toss up between Boro & Aisling for 5th place, but I fancy the Boro as they have points on the board)

i agree boro are out of it but its tight with the other four teams up there, its going to be harder for regional and view because they need both pike and balla to drop points but there's a lot of football too be played and anything can happen, and they all have to play each other in the coming weeks aswell, its going too the wire imo!

pike and ashling are usually good games with plenty of goals but boro and balla should be the pick if it goes ahead that is!

There are a few young refs coming through, but not enough of them.
Also the best ones might end up doing eircom league rather than junior as they are trying to recruit more refs as well.

It takes a special kind of person to be able to handle the pressure and occasional abuse that refs get, as well as needing to know the rules inside out, and being as fit and alert as possible. There's not many that fit the bill, or more to the point not many that want to. There will never be enough refs until attitudes change.

Refs are just as much to blame as players.

I think for a game like that a fourth official is appointed for the game.

Yeah but in saying that our run of games haven't been the easiest in all fairness...in the last 5 games we have played we have played the top 5 games in the division...But yes u are guarenteed goals at our place at least...Rarely been a 0-0 draw there..
