Fixtures:
Sunday 20/01/08
Balla 5-1 Summerville (Balla to go top of Prem, and stay there for the season)
Sorry to interupt ye lads but if ye remember the last time we played balla we only lost 1-0 to them in the fai and the goal they got was a pure fluke..We always step up to the plate against balla so i dont think we will lose by that amount at all(i hope),,,,And if we play well we could even get a result....remember its 11 on 11...

Pike remind me of Liverpool in a way .I have great respect for both clubs, who at the start of the season promise much ,excellent clubs with great teams and top new signings, top early season form.Team an supporters full of confidence. But some how with all the promise they show an talent they have it goes pear shaped for what ever reason.
I just cant figure them out..Ok they won the Mjc last year an more often or not are pushin for league honours each year and every few years do something to let us know that their still a heavy weight and credit to them but to go out they way they have,I should be surprised. But I'm not.
Pike should be the top side in limerick but the likes of Ballananty an Regional seem to be becoming the new powerhouses from the point of people lookin at Limerick football that are to be avoided at all cost in the open rounds of the Fai/Mjc.Is their a shift in power on the horizon.Junior football is fickle and players move on,thats a simple fact that will never change.
Players are easily read,if they join a club that has a habbit of chokin on big game day, they will join thinking that maybe they will be the ones to turn it round. This only last's for a while before the start to think is it worth it anymore. They get their game week in week out until their just goin through the paces and eventually decide to go.
Pike last year had an excellent side who were full of confidence ,both players an management. From the post that are up on both the Limerick thread an the Fai ,Mjc thread some of those players seem to be just going through the paces.I have no doubt that Pike will rise again to fight next year but it seems as if their is just somtin not right .Somthin's wrong and even I can see that from the outside lookin in.
Their's only one Dinny Pop's.
Littleman, that post is just nonsense.

In response to your post i think you have maybe stumbled upon
the Pike phenomenon. Comparing them with Liverpool however is
absolutely ridiculous.
In my humble opinion there is much wrong with Pike as i watch a
lot of Junior Football in my old age.
(1)Lack of pace all over the pitch!Outlined this before.
(2)Player unrest at stories of certain players getting paid etc.
(3)Players 'represent' club as opposed to fight for it and love it.
(4)Underage structure
(5)General antagonism between board and everyone.
Other clubs are becomming stronger in Limerick as well.
Teams of the future are Regional Aisling and Wembley
with aisling and wembley having strong underage structures.
Wembley seem to poach where as aisling have the catchment area.
Balla have always been there or there abouts.
Carew seem to be in trouble.
Corbally are inconsistent.
Janesboro have Pike like problems.
Summerville,Star,Granville yoyo clubs
Fairview potentially on the rise again very young squad
wembley seem to poach is a bit much. they have being winning fai's and munsters u17 and minor, or getting to finals or semi's, for the last 6 or 7 years. ye all agree that its all right for the likes of dave wall to join pike to try and win trophies, the same with other players around town, but when ye compare that to wembley its seems a total different story. you are treated as a junior from u17's on not a schoolboy. isn't it obvious that the best players want to play for the best team and play at a higher level. thats why pike balla and boro are so dominant in town at junior level. same with wembley at underage level for the last few seasons. its hard to be a clubman when you want to win trophies and there is none bigger than the fai at your age level![]()
I agree with everything you've said neutral jo,but i think mungret are a team for the future as well.they also have a good catchment area, good under age structure and great facillities, the only thing missing at the moment is premier status, once thats achieved i think they will be a force again in the next 5 years
Have to agree managers pick the teams and not the players, any truth that the summerville keeper has handed in a transfer request sville man to drop down to the b team..?heard this from a mate of he's in work.Wots going on at all over there in long ball wonder land.
