ya would be a good idea alright, have to agree about the quality of some of the pitches in the city, they are brutal regardless of the weather, ours(batemen)is a prime example

Cut the premier league to 10 teams
Set a minimum pitch standard / club facility standard
    Linesmen at games
Play on Saturdays - recover Sundays

If pitches were rolled more often it would make for a better game, I am sure people watching games on a Sunday would like to see a few more passess put together rather than the kick and chase game that players are forced to play due to the condition of some pitches.

Set a standard for pitches and facilities and enforce these standards, its a win win for clubs that are willing to meet it. better game to watch = improved gate takings?

Great plan, but the good old LDMC are not the greatest organisation in the world to listen not to mention follow up on a good idea, muppets!!
    Good idea though!

Just to offer a counter arguement

League cut to 10 - clubs struggling might strongly object, knoock on effect through the leagues

games played on a Sunday because people work Sat and the matches would clash with Rugby in the city?

Clubs can request linesman at games but they need to be paid?

In fairness clubs are trying to improve their facilities and pitch standards and they have got better over the years. But its few in each club that are doing the work of many, a thankless task in many respects.

Don't see why it should only apply to the premier league, but its probably the best starting point as clubs involved in this league tend to be more organised.

I have to agree. For how many years now have we seen no improvements on how the league is run.The standard of the football is deteriorating every year. Things I would like to see improved are:
Premier league games to kick off at 11.30 at the earliest. (For the sake of an hour alot more people would go to these games)
Good point above too about there should be a standard for pitches/facilities for the top division.
The situation with the oscar traynor team has been a disgrace for the past few seasons and has never been dealt with.

it kinda goes against clubs at the moment. with clubs spending alot of money on thier pitches over the summer to be ready for winter and it only takes one game and the pitch is nackered for months on end. summer league would attract more people to games, involve more kids, become more popular with existing players.

only problem here is, its bloody hard enough to get the ref's to show up as is never mind relying on two extra lines men

I agree with maybe a noon kick off for all Junior games on a Sunday.
Not only does it give the players rest on one of their days off work, but would also encourage more supporters, rather than having to go and watch a game at 10.30 on a Sunday morning.

Just imagine, players meeting at 10.45/11.00 for a 12 kick off, and supporters strolling along at 12 for the game............perfect.

And I'm sure the refs would like it too, but it would alomost put an end to most of the 2.30 Sunday kick off's (as some refs that do a 10.30 game often also do a 2.30 game at the moment on Sunday's) unless the 2.30 kick off became a 3/3.30pm kick off......

The pitch idea is good. How would you go about setting this "club facility standard". If a team without adequate facilites got promoted, would they then be told "sorry lads, your clubhouse is'nt up to the standard, back down ye go"

wont be too bad if you get killmallock away in the first couple of weeks of the season, hate to be going out there on a wet day in feb.

oh you mean like KIlmallock , Herbertstown and Charleville who actually have very good facilities up to these premier standards. Also when they build a new changing area Newport will be one of the best places to play in next couple of years. But thats right you wont have the DRIVE OR THE AMBITION to go out to these County Teams

No disrespect, but i dont think it has to do with drive and ambition. Not many enjoy travelling out there regardless of how good the team is
