Cool, best of luck hope the injury clears up soon.

Are teams taking the mossy seriously, havent been speaking to springers manager bout the cup, but i know some teams use it to "try things out"

well leeside only have about 14 on their panel, so realistically they'll have last years settled team - strong in certain positions, lack creativity on the flanks to open up the opposition. Here's hoping u get your name on the scoresheet and leeside win 2-1

    Thumbs up true blue

Ya Bella,a true Gratt.I have every respect for people who support their own club wholeheartedly, its what makes each club so different.

On the subject of the Mossie,I'd say the managers of the respective clubs will want to have a look at their entire squads and the Mossie gives them the chance to do that with the possibility that if things go well that their might be a bit of silverware at the end of it.A bit like the League Cup in England ,with no disrespect meant to the Mossie.

If some have B or minor sides their goin to want to see what might be available to them durin the season without takin a chance on a player durin a league or big cup game .

I dont think I would read to much into any of the results this weekend,I think there will always be a few shocks but thats down more to teams tryin out different players and systems than anything else.I think you will only be able to make a realistic call on the winners of any of the leagues either til Jan or Feb or at least till teams can concentrate on the league free of cup commitments.

Agree, but thing bout aUL is squads arent that big, like rebelrover said leeside have 14 players on squad so they'll have to play a strioing side against us, but i reckon the likes of kinsale & grattan might try things out.

    maybe

Whatever about the Gratts,we have a B side,Kinsale dont, and no minors so I think what you see from Kinsale will be what they intend their startin 11 to be for the season if everyone is fit.Kinsale will start like the clappers but will they last,Iagree with you about Leeside,14 is a recipe for trouble

I'm inclined to agree with Littleman here on Kinsale. After what was a poor season for them last year (they still finished runners-up before the relegation incident) I think Kinsale will be looking to set their stall out early...
It will be a little bit different for them now that it will be Grattan in everyones cross hairs as the big scalp of the champions...

    Foot.ie!

Correct- i agree with Innishvilla on last year. People knew Grattan were good but Kinsale were the champs and they were regarded as the big scalp- even though they were winning i think the Gratts were an unknown quantity. This year the roles will be reversed. It's hard to win a title, but even harder to defend it. An interesting season beckons - with leeside's small squad i think it'll be a two horse race between Kinsale and Grattan. Depending on the attitude of both teams its hard to call..

Dont see anyone else making an impression.

Keep us informed on the weekend's results/performances anyway please guys!

Re: Fasten seatbelts we're about to take off...

Alright lads, I'm all tingly the season starts tomorrow... Will Innishvilla fulfill their potential and win the FAI Junior Cup; will Kinsale, Grattan and Ballypheane all end up level and force a 3 way play off for the title... Will the MSL agree to merge with the AUL to create the CORK SUPERLEAGUE...

Or more likely will it p*ss rain for the next 5 months causing the season to run through until August of next year...

    Thumbs up

Villa utd 0 Grattan Utd 1.

Was correct in thinkin that the Gratts might try things out.The manager used only 12 players.Rested,Lofty,Shinky,PaConnors,Mark O'Sullivan,JohnPaul O'Sullivan,Goldsmith and Gally.Their all normally startin 11.Just goes to show how strong the Grattan squad is,Villa never got to grips with the Gratts.

Figo is in a class of his own ,hit the cross bar with a beauty of a free, tore the Villa apart all day and the Villa had their full back sent off for foulin him time and again. The Villa never realy caused the hard workin Grattan side any problems where as the Gratts should have made things a little bit more comfortable by takin a few more of their chances.

All told Caulfield will be quite happy to have made all those changes and still got a good performance and a win in what is always an enjoyable northside derby game, the first or 4 northside derbys in their group.

i know it's early but i have a feeling that kinsale mean business this year and the race will be for second place in premier.....they would appear to be a physically strong side which is worth points in this climate...you can't play football all year round in this country....i think everybody will want to beat grattan for many reasons but especially for some of the quotes being put out there from within their camp....some very strong showings by some of the newer clubs in premier over the weekend..yes it's the mossie linnane but...could be an interesting season ahead

    Cool not their form

Im surprised at that 3rd i,Pat Caulfied (manager) makes a point of keepin his players very grounded. He or indeed they won't be takin anythin or anyone for granted. If the players or supporters of the club after a few beers have a bit of banter it can be taken out of context.Their young lads they won the league fair and square I think no one would begrudge them that,do you.

Kinsale are physcially strong yes,as they were last year but no different to either Coachford or Leeside with regards to their physcial strenght.

If you watched the Gratts last year you would know that some of the best wins came in bad weather against physcially bigger sides.Pike would be a prime example.Pat Caulfield did'nt get manager of the year for nothin,he knows his stuff and he knows how to play against each side, big or small.

I would'nt be surprised if the bookies put Kinsale down as fav's for the league again. One way or the other it wont bother the Gratts, they will just take it one game at a time.

Should be tight between Kinsale and Grattan this year. I expect Kinsale to improve but will Grattan improve much?
Remember Grattan couldn't beat a 10 man Kinsale twice last year, and this was when Kinsale were struggling.

Bella didnt play transfer didnt go through or something, ok for tuesday though. Most frustrating thing ever watching, Leeside totally deserved their win, and their bald striker caused us alot of problem, thier definitly going to be beatable.

    Thumbs up I agree

No place for excuse's Shilts. Both games were there for the taken .That was last year though.I'd expect Kinsale to try harder,Leeside too.But I'd be foolish to think otherwise.Kinsale are a good side,Leeside too and even more so Ballypheane but I just think we have a better package.

Lets be honest Grattan have come from know where in the last 2 years to win the Premier A and Premier titles at a canter.I dont think its just luck that they have 2 internationals, just good players and a good team thats all.Their the first northside team since Cresent in 92 to win the Premier.Knocknaheeny is the hotbed of football in Cork so its no great surprise to me that its produced a team this good.It was always goin to happen to some team on the northside ,I'm just happy it happend to us.
