I would like to say that I am new here and am representing the Hoops B team in this thread. We have had an up and down season so far, but I'm confident we can finish well. A great result against Fairview for us last week with our bare 11. So hopefully we can string a few results together and have a good cup run. I've been reading this thread for awhile now and reckon it was time the best club in Limericks other team made their voice heard!! I look forward to mixing it with you guys. So heres to 1b, the best league in Limerick!!!

There are school boys playing with the club and they are doing well. They are well looked after. As for our B team, we have a good few 'club men' as you call them, playing for us and will have more next season when a few prodigal sons return!

Good point... Everyone is entitled a season or two away.. They'll be back. Along with a few others. We'll hold our own this season and have go at the league next.

We could still have a say in who goes up in this league. We have Park at home aswell as Croom and Shels away. Personally of the teams we've played I was most impressed with Shels. If they are organised and put their heads down I fancy them to pip Park, and go up with Croom.

Mr Pike...did you forget the drubbing Coonagh gave ye...8-1....If not impressed by that then I dont know....Do you have to play them at home?

Shels will not go up...Reckon Prospect or Coonagh will pip Park...A lot will be dependent on this weekend with the top 4 teams playing each other...

as for my own team...back to the drawing board !!

I might just point this out to you. Alot of people on this 1B forum seem to have us(Park) writen off even though the final promotion spot is ours to lose.

What you all seem to be forgetting is we have Abbey, Murroe, Pike B, St Pats, Knockainey, Prospect, Fairview, Coonagh and Croom all to play. How many sides in and around the "Promotion Area" can claim to have played; Shelbourne away, Knockainey away and Prospect away.

These are the sides away from home that are very hard to beat as the "intimidation" factor comes into play with both Prospect and Shelbourne along with that "Field" in Knockainey.

At the start of the season if you told me we would be in the position we are now, I would have snatched it given how bad a season we had in the previous campaign...

Ya, it was a bad day at the office alright, but we really had a poor side out that day. Coonagh were lively but I didn't think when we played them that they were as good as Shels, Park or Croom. We have Coonagh away aswell as Croom and Shels. I'd be happy with 2 or 3 points from them games.

It is yours to lose alright. I just call it as I see it. I am looking forward to hosting ye up in Pike. We did alright for 40mins out in your place before the goalies rick. Then ye pulled away in 2nd half. I was more impressed with Shels to be honest. They came up to us when we full strength and beat us 4-1. Could have been more. It will be a great battle between the top 4 starting this weekend!!

It is a big weekend granted, but it is not and will not define the whole season for any of the affor-mentioned sides.
Shelbourne are good side. We could/maybe should have beaten them. They have bar the right back got one of the weakest defences of the top 5/6 sides.
    Prospect have a tidy side.
Coonagh are a very physical side.
Croom have good players in the key positions i.e 2 center midfielders and a clinical center forward.
If you ask me (keeping in mind your not :-D) if you have an out and out goalscorer in this division you will win it...

Isn't Croom's centre forward on 270 goals or something???

Around that anyway!! I agree with you there though, but even Premier teams long for a 30 goal a season man. Do they exist?? Apart from Crooms man of course!!!

I just wonder if he would score even 18 in the Premier. To be honest I think not. The standard of defending is alot better. I don't think it's even fair to compare the standard.

No comparison. He wouldn't get 5 in Premier.. I'm just saying that strikers who get goals every week are tough to come by. Even in our league. Whats your top scorer got? Ours has 4!!!

    Intimidation my ass....Its Limerick Football

As for your point as to "How many teams in the promotion area can claim to have played........" I have it from a reliable source that Coonagh have played Knockainey away, Shels Away and Prospect away picking up 7 points...(Limerick Leader !!)

They have Home games left against Park,Prospect,St Pats,Pike, Shels
    Away : Murroe, Abbey, Croom,
