good luck to the under 21's.....hopefully they can go all the way. Don't see why Limerick couldn't get a result against either teams.....in saying that, outside of the munster league section i only saw Galway Utd play. They looked very good against Limerick in the Cup so i'd fancy them to go far aswell.

U21's played a (Munster ?) side on Tuesday night. Squad included Purcell and Finny, plus a good number of unknowns. Were losing 1-0 at half time, went 2 down soon after that, got back to 2-2 and created a half dozen excellent opportunites to kill the game off but didn't. The opposition got one more chance and took it. 2-3 final score.

I sincerely hope that Billy Barrett is getting the praise he deserves for all of this, and that now the 21's are in with a shout of National success that it won't be hijacked from him by other(s) trying to steal the glory.

    Agreed 1000%

Our pet chimp with all his past youth coaching experience (apparently) couldn't even drag himself to one game this year

Result from this weekend: Salthill Devon 0 - 1 Castlebar Celtic

That result gives Castlebar fourth place in the Connaught/Ulster section so we'll have them in the last 16.

And what a win. 3 1 down with ten to go and we pull it back to 3 3 and win 5 4 AET. So for winning this and topping our group we now have to go AWAY to Galway United next Sunday. Very strange as this is only a quarter final and with only four groups surely the winners of the groups could have been kept away from each other till the semis? Still great win today and well done to the players and management. Lets hope the galway pitch isnt the one they used last year/

Ya great match, very entertaining. Well done to the lads and its great to see Harrington back after illness. I fear for them next sunday against Galway though if they conceded 4 against CastleBar. They were an okay side but nothing special and looked younger and less physical than the Limerick U-21's. They showed great heart and team spirt to come back after being 3-1 down with a few minutes to go and then to go on and score 2 more in extra time. CastleBars fourth was some goal by the way.

All Celtic team bar two players U-19 and will be a force next year. Heard Limerick 4th was off-side, but when you can't defend from set pieces you will always be in trouble. Did 37 use any over age players and how many of the U-21's will break into first team next season. Galway a very good team but anything can happen in cup football. Surpised that you are not a home for Q-final as top seeds.

The team was made up of all u21 players, a few have played with the senior team. Looking at the squad there are more than a handful of the squad that could break into the first team if they are handled and treated properly.

The game will be played at Terryland at 2pm on Saturday. The lads had a facile win over the Kerry League, who were very disappointing. Galway have a talented bunch of young lads, playing neat passing football under the vocal stewardship of Billy Clery. Should be a good game.

Ya i knew they looked very young. They are a talented side just didnt have the experience. No all Limerick players who played on Monday were U-21. Many of them are still U-19 as well. In my opinion that u-21s team will make up the majority of the Senior team next year. Tierney, Danagher, White are all considered first team players already. With Harrington, Gregg, Clarke, Grant, Brazier (Vs Athlone last night), Curtain all making apperances for the first team this season. We all are suprised about the away draw seeing as we won our group and theres Leinster teams who came 3rd and 4th playing at home.

Best of luck in the next round. Galway a very good team. One of our own players is playing with them, could have done with him last Monday.

The Castlebar game was inspirational stuff

Castlebar looked a decent side, especially once they got ahead. They were very organised at the back, used the offside trap very well, got everyone behind the ball when they needed to defend, and even kept 4 defenders back against just one of us when they were attacking up the other end. They took their goals well too.
Their no.9 in particular was quick to spot which of our players would over-react to a few digs and himself and another player worked on it, made our lad look very stupid but luckily he only got one booking.
They were unlucky not to get a 4th before the 90minutes were up, but on the other hand we missed two excellent chances early on, one came off the cross bar after an attempt at chipping the keeper, and Peter White put one wide when he found himself in their box with the keeper beaten.
Well done to all involved, that win (when it looked like it was all over with 10minutes left) is one of the highlights of the season for me
It was nice to see a good bit of support turn up too, despite the weather.

Galway have an excellent 21s side, they beat us comfortably a few months back to put us out of the cup. But after Mondays performance, who knows....
It is definitely on Saturday by the way.
