Garvan will never be the player Huddlestone is, im sure of that! He's just too light and his range of passing isn't as good. Doesn't score enough goals either.
I'm thrilled that Garvan still seems to be somewhat under the radar over there... Another 12 months in Ipswich first team for me before I'd start itching for him to move up. Would hate to see him do a "Huddlestone" if you know what I mean... Saying that I wouldn't like Ipswich to get promoted with him either, I don't think that would serve him well.. I'm thinking Blackburn for another two or three years before one of the Big five come in for him (Everton will have joined the ranks at that stage)...
It's so crazy, it just might work!!

If you go back through the years of the FA youth cup winning sides you'll find at least a couple of players that made it as premiership regulars (or in the most recent years are breaking through in the premiership atm).

Garvan was a year younger than most of the players in the Ipswich cup winning side and was regarded as the one with most potential. He was the first player to get his chance in the first team and has been there ever since. When Ipswich are at their best it's with Garvan controlling their play from the middle of the pitch. It's not often you get that from a 19/20 year old.
Eirebhoy, i'm not saying Garvan ain't going to be a good player and important to us but i suppose i'm defending huddlestone more than anything. Having played against him for years and doing athletics with him he's a pure animal and has all the attributes to go right to the top.
Morecambe have signed Henry McStay until the end of the season, following his release by Royal Antwerp.
The Belgians are managed by ex-Burnley player Warren Joyce and Shrimps boss Sammy McIlroy said: "He's been sending me rave notices about this boy."
The 22-year-old defender has played for Northern Ireland Under-17s and the Republic of Ireland Under-21 team.
The former Leeds man could face Barnet on Saturday if international clearance comes through in time.

Alan Bennett's first involvement with the Reading senior team this season. No sign of Shane Long though
Stephen Ireland restored to the Man City starting XI
As predicted, John O'Shea started on the bench for Man United!
I think Huddlestone can be a very careless footballer and he wouldn't stand out if it wasn't for his atheleticism & size. He has the potential but needs work on his game. Ramos has started the process by helping him and others at Spurs lose weight. Huddlestone is leaner now.
Garvan will never be his size but is certainly athletic enough to succeed at the highest level. He's a far more elegant player too in my opinion. I don't agree at all that he hasn't the same range of passing. I'd say it's better.
Jim O'Brien could be on his way to Tannadice: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...096171,00.html
After this season I think Garvan needs to start playing Premiership football to keep his progress vertical. It would be great to see Ipswich go on a run but I thought with their new investor they would sign more players this transfer window. With Neil Alexander gone to Rangers, hopefully a chance for Supple.
From SSN:
Sunderland have agreed a £4million fee with Charlton for winger Andy Reid.
The Republic of Ireland international is now holding talks with Roy Keane's side over a switch to the Stadium of Light.
Reid started his career with Nottingham Forest before joining Tottenham for £4million in January 2005 and then moving on to The Valley for £3million in August 2006.
Black Cats defender Greg Halford may go in the opposite direction with a loan move to The Valley.
Addicks manager Alan Pardew told the club's official website: "A fee has been agreed and Andy Reid is talking to Sunderland.
"It was a difficult decision, but we have to look at ourselves and say 'are we going to let this affect us or will this make us stronger?' Hopefully, the latter will happen."
Ipswich sign Norris.
Alan Sheehan to Leeds for the rest of the season, scroll down a bit.

Supple and Clarke on loan to Falkirk for the rest of the season
Good move for Clarke, not sure about Supple though

Interesting. I like to have an excuse to watch Falkirk.![]()
Not a transfer, but Billy Dennehy has returned to Sunderland after his loan at Accrington ended.
Check out his record here: http://www.chatsoccer.net/irishabroa...0&seasonID=137
Didn't exactly set the world on fire
Suprised Ipswich let Clarke move, he was getting games for them.If he starts scoring goals galore for Falkirk we will be a little more cagey before heralding him as the next big thing.![]()
Check out his profile - http://www.chatsoccer.net/irishabroa...7&seasonID=137 - he was coming off the bench more often than not, only 2 starts in the last two months and he hasn't scored at all this season.
Falkirk is a good club for him, they play decent football, and with any luck they'll play him as an out and out striker.
Cheers Tets,
thought he was starting more games.Hughes seems to be an excellant manager. It will be interesting to see how he gets on.
