I do disagree for the simple reason that the team playing away in the 2nd leg have 90 mins to sucker punch their opponents with an away goal, and if the tie goes to ET, then the away team really do have the edge as both a win and a score draw will carry them through

    This is a fantastic draw.
Lowest of the seeded teams and well down the Swedish league. Couldn't have asked for much more. UEFA have been very kind to Drogheda this season.

    Home Win
    Away draw
    John Delaney!! GET OUT!!!

Anyone else have a feeling that 'the Larsson Factor' could well translate into Helsingborgs being more supported over here, and possibly at the game itself, than Drogs?

There'll doubtless be punters looking to go and see Larsson, but he ain't the man he once was - and even Celtic fans have largely moved on.

Plus - most of those with a barstool persuausion would think Drogs v Hammarby sounded as interesting as watching paint dry.

So there'll be a bigger crowd than there otherwise would've been, but I'd be surprised if there's a mad scramble for tickets just because of one ageing former Celtic player in an otherwise unglamorous and unknown team. Especially if it's shown on TV.

No they haven't. Larsson is Celtic's greatest ever player imo and there'll be plenty there just to see him. That's not to say they'll actually be supporting Helsingborg though which a few people have actually suggested.

How in the name of jaysus did you come to that conclusion? Don't be silly. Do you think Celtic fans really care how Helsinborg do? They'll go to see their idol play football. Plenty of people would go to see Maldini play if he was in this country and this is no different.

Thats crap to be honest. Just because a former Celtic player is playing against Drogheda doesn't mean every Celtic supporter will jump on the Helsingborgs bandwagon. How many Celtic supporter do you know who became Barcelona and Manchester Utd fans after Larsson signed for them?

It seems like people would say anything to get their anti Celtic digs in.
I think I should the parachute, because I'm great.

In fact, I think I should get both parachutes, in case one doesn't work.

Celtic and Scottish Football aren't anywhere near important enough to register anything other than a mild interest at the best of times. As for your Larsson query, I know quite a lot of Celtic fans who wanted Barcelona to beat Arsenal in last year's Champions League final simply because Larsson was a Barca player, and considering the average Irish Celtic fan couldn't give a monkey's about the EL, let alone Drogheda, I'm sure they'd happily put their lot in with Henrik's team

There's a big, big difference between wanting your hero to win the champions league and a qualifying match for the UEFA cup.

So you're comparing Arsenal, an English club in a champions league final (By the way, Many Celtic fans wanted Arsenal to lose that match because it officially qualified Celtic for the group stages in the CL at their expense) to Drogheda United, an Irish club in Europe. Thats wrong.

As for the first comment, Celtic have been mentioned plenty of times in this threads and others over the past few weeks for some strange reason.

Why is it? They're both football teams in Europe, playing teams on at an equal level, with a player in one side that has huge personal support over here, I think it's pretty apt to be honest. I'm sure there were many Celtic fans who just cared about their team getting into Europe, but from the barstool I was sat in, and cheering on Arsenal, for that game the majority in the pub I was in had little interest until Larsson came on

By me? Didn't think so, so take your 'you have a anti-celtic' agenda elsewhere please

People wont turn up and support Helsingborgs over Drogheda, they might cheer if he scores but sin e. Anyways Drogheda should have plenty of support to there not to worry about it.

    1. They obviously aren't great fans if they didn't realise how important it was for Barca to win that night.
    2. We've grown to love Henrik Larsson. Of course we want to see him win the Champions league. And win it he did.
