I hear it's quite popular for people to go to eastern Europe if they're getting major treatment done. Prague specifically.
I think up the North is far cheaper than here too.
Just went to the dentist. I had a filling that fell out last week so needed to get it done. Cost me €185! Are dentists really that expensive these days? In fairness, it was a pretty big filling (probably about half a tooth), and it was in Cabinteely which I'm guessing isn't the cheapest part of the world.
And he wanted me to come back in a few weeks for 2 more fillings (which I don't really need), an xray to make sure nothing was decaying under the surface, and a personalised retainer for me to use when asleep to stop me teeth grinding against each other. Next visit - €350
The glass isn't half full or half empty it's just too damn big!

Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
Seriously look into going away to Eastern Europe for the weekend, it's where the smart money is flying out to for dental work.
I remember two years ago being charged 150euro for a check up and a small filling (wasn't even sure I needed it as that tooth hadn't been giving me any trouble, and I've since heard of dentists performing unneccessary work on you so they can charge you), and haven't been back since. I have a check up booked for next week, but since its also rent week, and I have to fork out 200euro on my portfolio I'm not sure I'll be able to afford it, so probably won't go
Don't bother with the retainer, cost a fortune and a mouthguard that you'd wear in rugby does the same job or so I was told by a girl that works in a dentists, haven't bothered getting it myself yet!
My dentist the last time for a check up filling and a cleaning 60 euro ( no he isnt a tramp in an alley way)
It depends on the amount of work that needs doing but half a tooth is a lot so 180 prob isnt that overpriced i wouldnt be going to prague for the weekend for a filling .
Good idea!!! Every Irish fan over for the qualifier should get their teeth polished at a Czech Dentists!!
George Hamilton: ".....the marauding Czech forward surely would have put that away except for the brilliant white glare that eminated from the Irish section of the ground forcing him to shoot wide and rendered him permanently blind".

I had toothache on Monday & went to dentist that morning. He removed one of my expensive white fillings (had gotten all my silverware removed a few yrs ago & white fillings put in coz of toxic levels found in my mum due to mercury which seem to have brought on her illness) and put a sedative & padding in, have to go back to get the filling in properly in 2 weeks. Cost me €60 & he did x-rays too. Wonder how much the actual filling will be tho, as he is gonna do a white one again.
i spent a grand this year in the dentist, absolute rip off..but i had to get my wisdom tooth taken out in january, and id rather pay the cash than the pain..

shedite - Have you not got stamps (or whatever you kids call them these days)? I got a lot of work done earlier this year including 2 extractions and a visit to another specialist dentist and it came to a grand total of €120.

Of course the cheapest way to have avoided these expenses, would have been heeding our parents/teachers advice...think very carefully about what you put in your mouth!![]()
Tact is for people who are not witty enough to be sarcastic
Funny my dad had been to the Dentist in Enniskillen yesterday and was chatting to a woman from there who had gone to Prague. She had needed a whole mouth of implants and was quoted £42,000 sterling but got it done for in and around £8,000! She was recommending Dad go for his implants there.
Dad suggested that my mum & I head over on recky visit for him! No probs Pops!
I got a crown last May and it cost a grand.
I should have went to The Prague Hilton for a week and went to the dentist for a tenner.![]()
