Derry City may have showed signs of tiredness following their European travels, but it was Galway United 'keeper, Gary Rogers, who kept the Candystripes at bay at the Brandywell.
In fact, Derry's failure to score in their last four games will certainly concern team boss, John Robertson.
While the Scot will have no complaints at the effort put in, the lack of a cutting edge in the final third will have brought disappointment.
While it was the home side who may have dominated the scoring chances, it was Galway who really should have broken the deadlock having been awarded a 27th minute penalty.
Former City player, Alan Murphy, played the pacey Derek O'Brien in behind the home back four and when Eddie McCallion made a lunge, O'Brien was brought crashing down to earth.
Up stepped Murphy, but his spotkick was ballooned recklessly over the crossbar and the Brandywell faithful breathed a sigh of relief.
Mark Farren and Paddy McCourt both had chances to break the deadlock, while Ken Oman's low drive was superbly blocked by Rogers in the 35th minute.
Galway's Derek Glynn did well to work his way in behind the home defence in the 43rd minute but his low centre across the face of goal failed to find the advancing Barry Moran.
And one minute later the Candystripes' best chance of opening the scoring fell to new striker Sammy Morrow, whose tame effort was easily dealt with by Rogers from close range after McCourt's superb cut-back in the 44th minute.
Rogers produced a top drawer save in the 55th minute - Sean Hargan played an incisive pass perfectly into the path of Farren and while the striker launched a powerful shot at the target, the Galway 'keeper dived full-stretch to divert the ball wide at the expense of a corner.
The 'keeper again kept Galway in the game when saving a Higgins free in the 66th minute and three minutes later Rogers saved the visitors again when tipping a Ciaran Martyn header over his crossbar.
With the game heading towards a scoreless draw, Morrow headed the ball wide of the target following a Higgins free in the 90th minute.

Derry City manager John Robertson was left to rue another goalless performance following their 0-0 draw with Galway City at the Brandywell on Sunday evening.
Despite creating a wealth of chances, City perhaps owed their share of the spoils as much to Alan Murphy's first half penalty miss than their own defensive resolve.
Derry took a little time to come to grips with this Eircom League encounter, obviously still recovering from their marathon Champions League exploits in Armenia.
Paddy McCourt had the first shot in anger after ten minutes. Benefiting from Ruaidhi Higgins' sublime pass, his shot was never going to trouble Gary Rogers in the visitor's goal.
The same pair combined again in the 24th, latching onto a 50 metre pass McCourt went past both Derek O'Brien and Alan Keane, the latter with a nutmeg but his end product lacked enough purchase.
Galway seemed certain to break the deadlock after Eddie McCallion fouled Derek O'Brien in the area.
The Galway striker had been sent clear by Alan Murphy's incisive pass but he was caught from behind. The former Derry player stepped forward only to blast the spot kick over the bar, much to his former teammates' delight.
This galvanised the Candystripes who were unlucky not to go ahead before the interval. Ken Oman won his side a corner when Rogers tipped his 30 yard drive wide. The resulting set piece saw efforts from Sammy Morrow, Ciaran Martyn and Oman charged down by a committed Tribesmen defence, before Higgins fired over from the edge of the area.
Galway had one more chance of their own when the pacey Derek Glynn got down the left to play the ball across the face of goal. The inrushing Barry Moran was a split second behind play and the score remained deadlocked at the interval.
Peter Hutton fouled John Lester four minutes into the second half and Patrick Jennings had to be at his best to deny Shane Fagan's top corner-bound 30 yard free kick.
That said it was City who applied all of the pressure in the second half. Mark Farren's first-time shot from the edge of the box forced Rogers into a full length save. The Galway number one then fraustrated Higgins. Sammy Morrow won his side a free kick after bamboozling John Lester, as he had done for most of the game, but Higgins' effort was turned away.
The keeper further proved his worth by tipping a Ciaran Martyn header over the bar on 69 minutes.
It was, as Robertson conceded after the game: "A
frustrating day at the office for us.
"We created 18 chances, 12 of them on target but we can't seem to buy a goal at the minute. I can't fault the players for their effort, if we weren't creating these chances I might be worried but it has been a long week. Players like (Mark) Farren have run themselves into the ground this week but we have a few days rest now before the Shamrock Rovers game and I really feel we have a few goals coming. It is all about confidence. This is a confidence business and when Sammy (Morrow) gets his first that might be all it takes."
His counterpart, Tony Cousins, said: "When you come to a club like Derry you have to be happy to take something away with you.
"We could have been two nil up at half time but that is the thing about penalties, they either go in or they don't but I seen enough commitment out there today to be happy about this club's future."

heard that armstrong and yeboah have been released and an amiciable settlement reached over their contracts so id expect one or two players in before tomorrow evenings deadline.

ya, injured himself in it and is out for the rest of the season.
Im nearly sure its true, in fairness the club cant keep paying their big wages when they cant play for the rest of the season.

On the derry game, we played very well controlled the first half and had the peno and moran shud of scored when gylnn squared it for him. Moran didnt react quick enough. Derry came back into the game in the last 20 minutes and Rogers pulled off a few superb saves tho fagan hit a sweet free-kick which hit the crossbar. Overall a fair result but if murphs stuck away the peno it could be a different story.

Heard from Trainee that we have signed Greg O'Halloran from Derry.He can play midfield or defence so it looks like thats our lot for the Season.A good signing now if we could get Stevo back wed be flying.
