Looked pretty dire oke but Derry shouldn't fear a team that can't even take a throw.
Also must say Pat Morley's habit of following the word 'very' with 'very' every time has bugged me for ages.
e.g. The goalie did very very well. Same with 'really really'.
Listen out of it next time he is on the box - aaarrgghhhh!

Woeful game, perhaps Pyunik will be a lot more up for it in Armenia and it might be a different story. I can see Derry getting through with a score draw, but they must be kicking themselves that they were so flat last night.

Classic George Hamilton, claiming that Derry were beaten by PSG, in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, last season.
George must think that the eL runners-up get to play in the CL every season.
On a side note, would Shelbourne have faired much worse against Pyunik!?

Yes, Shels would've been destroyed. If Monaghan can stick four past them...

I don't think they would have been.
Derry were under no pressure at the back last night.
That certainly wasn't down to any significant quality in their midfield.
A lot of Derry fans would want to wake up to the limitations of McCourt. He's one of the least productive midfield players in the league, despite his high profile.

Im not sure what game most of you were watching but Pyunik were the better side last night. Looked far the more dangerous. Derry looked unfit and unorganised. Midfield was quite good for derry but did any Derry striker get a shot on target.
Cannot beleive McHugh didn't start ahead of Morrow. Was Morrow in the box at all last night? Maybe just when he got home to the wife - thats the only time he got in the box.
Armenia's keeper would seem like a good buy for an ei side as would their right back. Apart from that they are also poor but slightly better than Derry

As bad as Derry were, they certainly were not worse than the other lot. Patrick Jennings was never troubled.
Derry's inability to hold the ball up in the centre of the park, prevents them from applying pressure for any significant period.

At the game, Derry dominated. I'm sure you can relate to teams coming to the Cross and putting 11 men behind the ball. They tried to frustrate all night and succeeded. Looking at it first hand, Derry looked hungrier and have nothing to fear in the second leg. There will be more space for Martyn, who has an inability to hold up any play anyhow, but Molloy was absolutely outstanding in the game.
As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our balls
Infrequent shots on target & too many wasted corners, meant that Derry's dominance, didn't equate to any significant pressure.

Not excusing our absolute ****eness last night in taking set pieces but Brennan, Higgins and Deery have taken all our set pieces over the past year or so. None of them started. Eddie McCallion and McGlynn were shocking in the final third though, whilst last week v Sligo their distribution was brilliant.

I only saw the first half but by the sounds of it, the second was the same. The question is whether Pyunik played like that on purpose looking for a 0-0 draw or if they're just that bad. If the former, Derry could be in a bit of trouble in the away leg but if Pyunik play like that again, Derry should win.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
I'm going to descend to stereotypes but Pyunik are a "typical" Southern/Eastern European team. Came to spoil and not concede, had we scored early they would have lost heart and we would've scored a bucketload.
That may well cost us as I'd say they'll be a different team at home. They looked very quick down the flanks as well which doesn't bode well.
Hopefully it wasn't a missed opportunity but I've a feeling they'll be a lot better next week.
I didn't think Pyunik were that bad. They were reasonably comfortable in defence and showed a couple of times that they had the potential to be dangerous on the break. Only last ditch interventions from Peter Hutton on a couple of occasions stopped them from getting in. Having said that, Derry are still very much in the tie, and might even get more room to play over there. I thought McCourt had a good game. He was the one Derry player who had them in trouble every time he ran at them. They should have moved him central and looked to get him on the ball as much as possible. Molloy and Hutton alo did well.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.
