    Player payments

When will League of Ireland be able to pay players a decent wage. Many travelling long distances for very little reward. Does minimum wage legislation apply?

Whats a decent wage to you?

If your full-time you will mostly likely be making a good wage.
If your part-time you will probably have another job or be in school, so your probably not doing to badly out of that either.

    Stupid question.

Players are paid what they're worth. If they don't like the wage, no-one's forcing it on them,

They're being paid expenses only. However, I hear that a few of the lads are living comfortably off it.

I know you may not have the ability to deal with the substance of the question without personal attacks you intelligent boy. It just struck me that the rights of the players need to be considered as well

Don't judge every EL team by your own standards. Just cos ye only pay expenses doesn't mean every player in the league is on a crap wage.

The budget in Cobh is 2500k per week...this was cut back this season as we couldn`t afford any more..seems to have worked bigtime..off loaded the high earners to other clubs and briught in good young lads...has worked well 2nd in League behind Dundalk who are said to have a huge wage bill....maybe other clubs should take note

Is that 2500k just players wages Rams-07 or does include everything?

There is a standard contract agreed between the PFAI and the FAI/LOI

Their rights aren't in question. If they are underpaid or undercompensated they are in the minority as far too mnay players get paid far too much

our wage bill is approx 5k a week, for the entire club (staff, players, backroom, etc.). To answer the original question, the fulltime players in the league are all well paid, as are most of the part-timers, remember the lower half of division one should be grateful for the opportunity to play league football

You mean when Dundalk win the league, the FAI will still fcuk them over and make them play off with a mid table premier division team

    Here here Dodge.

Relative to the attendances players in the League are over paid.

Players are being paid as much as the clubs can afford (or more in some cases...) with current income levels. End of topic!

Players on this Island get paid a lot more than their abilities in a lot of cases. I think no decent player at a good side could complain.

Incidently Linfields wage bill was £550k for the year. I don't know if that would be classed as big in the South. But it is probably the biggest budget in Northern Ireland(excluding Derry City, as they have no bearing on IL football)
