    Football in Sligo

    Hi,

I've write here for a while....I'm a student from germany and I'll study on september in Sligo. So, can someone tell me where the intermediate clubs in Sligo where, which pitch they have and their web-address?

I was in Sligo the last day to look for an accomodation. Unfortunately I dont have seen a football pitch. No time for that

    Thanks for informations!

I feel sorry for you having to play your football in sligo.finding football pitches would not be to easy.As most of them are farmer's field.Which they hire during the winter months. There are Junior clubs or league of Ireland Club of which is called Sligo Rovers. There are no intermediate clubs.
If you are looking for good football clubs then Mayo is a county that beck ens you where the clubs facilities are own by its own clubs and have many of them. The problem I see in Sligo is that its League Management Committtee,Have done nothing to incourage its clubs to up grade apart from a chosen few.Compared with the Mayo League who have lead the way.who would be an envey of the country.
Ther is a habbit what Mayo do the rest has to follow
We have lead the way in promoting Summer football now we have league of Ireland followed us
We produce the best junior football clubs including facilities more astro pitches won more external comp in Connaught the best know clubs
send me more info see what I can do for you

renovator is correct if you want to succeed at your soccer go and play in Mayo there will be a bit of travelling involved but in order to enjoy your football you will need to go there take it from me I know the quaility of soccer in Sligo is just lingering above very poor and it is not getting any better in fact it is going downhill very quickly.

MOD EDIT___there is plenty of good football clubs in sligo town.considering mayo never had a league of ireland club and rovers are currently riding high in 4th place in the premier division
i think you will find 6 super league teams playing within 1 mile of sligo city centre. abbey utd, city utd, carbury, strand celtic , calry, glenview. they all have good pitches, dressing rooms and use two full size all weather pitches in sligo city centre for training.
season starts end of august and runs until may.
no offence to the mayo league but if this man is looking for guidance i think this may be more suitable for a student than summer soccer 40 miles away. come out of your little cocoon and see the world outside mayo .
the new contact details for our club secretaries should be available in a week or twos time

    Hi,

thanks for your informations! My big problem is: I can't estimate the level of the irish leagues. I'm not good enough for the Sligo Rovers. I think for that you must have played in level 3 or 4 in germany. In germany I can play in level 6 league, if I'm in shape. Don't the Sligo Rovers have a second team? Is around Sligo no intermediate team?

I'm looking for a good team, a good training with a lot of players and a good pitch.
