What if Cork should happen to make the cup final this year, for example , how will it be shown live?
Play it at eight? Order a kit without the sponsor? (F1 gets by quite well with this.)

what do yis make of the proposed new law to make tv advertising of alcohol illegal before 8.00? This could pose potential difficulties to teams trying to get live games shown on da telly. What if Cork should happen to make the cup final this year, for example , how will it be shown live?

We're sponsored by Budweiser.
Cobh are sponsored by some drinks crowd, aren't they? That said they won't be getting to any Cup Finals or on any live TV airings anytime soon.Originally posted by Magoo

Champions!
I don't think it would change anything - the laws just relate to TV advertising, right?
Whichever TV company shows the games won't be receiving money from the brewers, so I don't think there's a problem.
The BBC have no problems showing football games even though the teams happen to have sponsors on their shirts!
who gets the money has nothing to do with it. The proposed ban, for instance, means that the Gah will be fcuked cos of their jinness sponsorship. AFAIK the BBC opts not to show ads cos of a policy rather than cos of being dictated by law.

Exactely. Government isn't going to screw the GAA over so won't make any difference to sports sponsorship for a while.Originally posted by Magoo

Government probably be serving a more useful purpose by banning kids toys ads before 8pm?

There was a problem about them getting the Champions' League coverage because they wouldn't be able to show the Amstel ads .Originally posted by Magoo

We're not arrogant, we're just better.
Yeah, in their proposal for the tv rights they offered to compensate the Amstel and ford for not showing their ads, but ITV got the rights anyways
Whatever it was I am sure it was better than my plan to get out of this by pretending to be mad. I mean, who would have noticed another madman around here?
Not very like a TV company to be so generous. IMO. ITV are just a better, more professional outfit anyway, more suited to handling the broadcasting of European football.Originally posted by Ruairi
