Anyone know anything about this kid? Just how depressed is he after fcuking up in England?
From eleven-a-side.com:
After losing highly-rated Barry Ryan to Shamrock Rovers, UCD manager Paul Doolin has moved to increase his goalkeeping options for next season by snapping up out-of-contract former Leyton Orient keeper Barry Andrews.
Ryan – selected on the eircom League Team of the Season – has been widely regarded as the best netminder in the league in recent seasons, and his departure will be a real blow to UCD’s hopes of maintaining their Premier Division status in the coming season.
The Shamrock Rovers newboy – in conjunction with centre half Clive Delaney, now with West Ham – was held up as a major reason behind the club’s climb away from the relegation places last season.
Pat Jennings Jnr, the son of the legendary former Arsenal, Spurs and Northern Ireland goalkeeper, is expected to be the first-choice ‘keeper at Belfield Park for the start of the season, although Doolin’s options have been widened by the signing of a second keeper.
After being released by Orient in the summer of 2000, Dubliner Andrews was unable to nail down a contract in England after a trial with Conference side Hereford United, and returned to Ireland, where he had unsuccessful spells at Bohemians and St Patrick’s Athletic before joining Leinster Senior League side Glebe North.

I know bugger all but sliding down to the Leinster Senior League must've been an eye opening experience for him, so I'd say he'll be very determined. It'll also keep Jenny on his toes.Originally posted by Aberdonian Stu

What happened with signing Horgan from Rovers? Is that still on?
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Barry Andrews played for Leyton Orient's youth team and Q.P.R.'s reserves no first team appearances that I could trace ( Rothman's football Yearbooks ). As regards Robbie Horgan, he has decided to wind down the latter years of his career in the lesser pressurised realm of First Division football. He signed for Dublin City recently.
It's a lot better than the atmosphere at tallaght or at Richtolksantry parkOriginally posted by TommyT
