PC Power supply problem

kdjac its not the PSU, as i got it changed and still nothing worked.

I cant remember the PSU off hand or the motherboard, but the dimensions of the motherboard are about 245 X 240 mm and its like this one ( with a few less pci slots ):

It was a packard bell that I bought about 2 years ago from europc.co.uk. It was about 6 months old at the time.

I have a fair idea when it comes to the hardware, bar the motherboard ( obviously ) so i dont mind changing stuff and removing stuff as i have done a lot of it before.

Motherboard part number is wrote between the PCI slots, if its a packard bell possibly a low watt PSU 300 wattish using a hybrid MSI board. Part number of Pc is on the back usually about 15 digits long but only 4 matter The PSU will have a name and if it says Qtec <worst PSU ever it may have killed your board.


Did you add anything recently? As packard bells usally only ahve a PSU to cover whats in it so another HD or CD drive could cause it to stop powering everything.

its a 250 watt PSU.

nah didnt add anything to it, there was lightning though last week and thats when it stopped working, but yet there was the wirless router and other things plugged in and they were fine....right ill look between the PCI slots, I couldnt see it on the underside as someone else mentioned it would be there....

whats the max processor speed that can be put in an ABIT SG-80 Intel P4 775 motherboard, was looking at one in maplins yesterday and the form factor dimensions are pretty much the same as the old motherboard that was in it.

ya but whats the max speed of a p4 processor is it 3 ghz or has all that stuff changed now too.....i am a little behind the times on this

anyhow is that motherboard worth getting or not? i have googled it and a lot of the documents and articles on it are not very recent plus some places no longer have it in stock.....
