City beat Rockmount 3-1 away after extra time. Goalscorers were- O'Callaghan, Doyle and I think Colin P got the last one (it was a bit of a scramble).

I thought Buckley, O'Callaghan and Doyle were very good for City today. I like the way Dolan is playing Hoggy and Gaz in their correct positions and is looking for a suitable spot for Georgie (probably right MF).

Might be nothing but Mick Wallace was there again today. Does he just like going to the games or is he sussing us out to see whether he'll invest???

Presume Doyle is pro and living in Cork (or maybe Wexford as that's where he's from? that might explain why Mick Wallace - another Wexford man - is around so much... driving Doyle from Wexford?)

I'd agree with you Neil.
I thought Doyle was excellent, and was very impressed with Buckley.
City were a bit sluggish, though thats to be expected, I suppose.
Hoggie and Gaz were very good, but the whole back 4 looked solid enough.
Rockmount were competitive enough,and a good game for City to have under their belt.
As for Whitechurch, what must the place be like in fuppin January?

Colin P was credited with the third goal.

Hoggie was in excellent form and most of the play in the second half went down his side.

I wouldn't be as positive about Doyle as some others above - he wasn't any better than JoF or CoB and needed more than a couple of reminders from Dolan (during the second half in particular) to "get moving". That said, he may be just building his fitness or getting used to the new team. At one stage Dolan switched George and Doyle.

Equally with Buckley, he looked a bit lost on a few occasions (I didn't know who he was when forming this opinion, so his being an acedemy guy as opposed to a UK reuturnee or something explains his apparent inexperience). I actually think that Conor did well when he came on, so there's some hope there.

Anyone know anything about Bruton? I'd have expected him to be at least in the squad.

Dolan on the bench: major motivator. After Benno f****d up for the goal, he also had a great header in the box, the rebound from which George volleyed home. Dolan called Woods aside and told him to go to Benno and tell him what a great header that was - l build up the confidence immediately. Maybe a bit excessive, but maybe it'll work!

Well, I knew Buckley was an a Fásling, so that was why I was impressed with him. Conor looked sharp enough, hopefully he'll get his form back.
It was great to see Napier back in the dugout too.
As regards Bruton, according to Trevor on the BRB last night, he has not signed yet and is taking a few days to think about what is best to do.
Football wise, one would think that City are a much better option, but he may have other reasons for staying with cob H.

I played up there 2 or 3 times years ago in december and it was my most hated ground- always freezing and you always got kicked black and blue- god I hate rockmount.

It is great to see him back in action (he looked his normal self playing against Limerick last week). The only time Naps was in the dugout yesterday was during halftime when he and a few others were up to a bit of mischief in there (I heard a couple of senior players laughing like schoolkids about how Naps could end up out for 4 months with his back if he wasn't careful.)

Sounds like an encouraging win for city considering we don't usually win too easily against Rockmount even in the middle of the league season.

era pete to be honest twasnt the greatest of specticles..rockmount were no great shakes..seemed v content to let city have the ball and try and break them down. nothing overly impressive imo.. bar seeing woods run 2 matches in a row
