Hope they do. Think of it, been to 3 World Cups and made the knockout stages every time, and haven't even qualified for the Euros since 1988.

Well it used to be harder as you had to win the group and we've finished 2nd in every group since 88 so its not that weird

Which says more about Ireland's ability to bottle it than anything else. Remember the qualifiers for Euro 2000 and Macedonia away in the last match. What a throwaway.

What makes you think that fans wont go to Portugal?

I was in Amsterdam for Euro2000 and there were hundreds of Irish there. We weren't even playing in the tournament.

Same time zone, same currency and if the hospitality we were shown in Lisbon for the WCQ against Portugal is anything to go by the Irish fans would be in for a real treat.
