    Liverpool Legends

I wonder if Cookie has made any enquires for a game versus Rovers yet?

Newry City will be holding a reception to welcome both Sheffield United and Liverpool Legends who will take on Gerry Flynn's men in friendlies next month.

Canal Court Hotel will be the venue for the Blades' visit on July 21 and Liverpool, who will include John Barnes, John Aldridge, Jimmy Case and Ronnie Whelan among many others, coming on August 4 to the Mourne Country Hotel.

Match tickets or tables for the reception dinners for either match are available by calling the Commercial Department at the club between the hours of 9.30am and 5pm on (028) 308 25648 or by email at newrytown@btconnect.com.

The Liverpool Legends squad, which includes a galaxy of former Kop heroes, is: Gary Kelly, Alan Kennedy, Gary Gillespie, Phil Neal, Rob Jones, Nigel Spackman, Phil Babb, Mark Walters, Ronnie Whelan, Michael Thomas, Jan Molby, Ray Houghton, David Fairclough, John Durnin, John Barnes, John Aldridge, Jimmy Case and Paul Walsh.

John Durnin - probably the least recognisable of those listed as he only made a couple of appearances but ironically he is better than most of the rest of them now.. usually scores in these 'legends' games and always bangs in a fair few in the 'masters'
