New Player?

Hi guys , first post on he website...Im a fan of Irish football and have heard through a quite reliable source that UCD are currently in the proccess of trying to sign "Irish international" Joe Lapira..from waht ive heard he is interested in continuing his education after completing his studies in the USA and UCD have offered him some form of Scholarship...make what you will of this , just thought id pass on this rumour anyway!

I actually don't know whether I'd be very surprised or not.

I'd consider it doubtful - though you wouldn't be the first random punter to come on with a first post which is acually inside knowledge - but then again, at the time, there was a lot of comment that his standard was really not much better than UCD.

Is he a right wing? Not going to get in ahead of Conan anyways.

Your entire foot.ie reputation now hinges on whether we sign him or not!

He's a striker. I very much doubt he's up to eL standard but it would be no harm giving him a trial to see what he's like, if the story is true.

True AFAIK but for the U21's

yeah im not sure about the guy myself either ...never seen him play or know an awful lot about him , just heard the rumour and passed it on. Surely it would be a possitive move by the club to sign an international player though...might even boost attendances!!

It would be a very good thing marketing and PR wise IMO.

It'd generate a bit of publicity for the club. Granted signing any other player ever capped for Ireland would generate more publicity but it would surely be worth a few extra inches of column space for a day or two.

He could play in the Universities League, and the Collingwood Cup, for the Under 21's and also for the Superleague Representative side in the Oscar Traynor Cup.
