If I were Hamilton I wouldn't want to win the title that way.

He was happy enough to benefit from the McLaren cheating earlier this season

I find it ironic that McLaren appealing the decision on BMW fuel (I think it deemed to have no impact on race result) whereas Hamilton was let off with fine for tyre irregularity in practice as it was also deemed to have no impact.

Good entertainment by F1 standards anyway. Pity about Hamilton's engine trouble. WOuld have been interesting to see if he could have fought his way back to 5th, or even 6th in which case would Mclaren have asked Alonso to retire and would he have obeyed?
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Alonso has said today that he wants McLaren to lose their appeal as Kimi is the proper Champion, it seems like Alonso is going out of his way to be fired at this stage!!

I think you stretching for positives. Bar the overtaking on the first few corners on lap 1 the only other significant passing was by team-mates during pit-stop. After that was a case or hoping for mechanical failure.

    How about the Rosberg/Kubica/Heidfeld battle?

We didn't get to see much of that though, it was all Hamilton or Kimi on screen

Well about 10 laps from the end Rosberg almost hit Heidfeld trying to overtake him, they both went wide, and Kubica took both of them for good measure.

Rosberg then tried to pass Kubica later as well.

    And succeeded.

The excitement was less about passing in this race than in the championship position, up until the end one crash could have changed the whole scenario.

Alonso back to Renault. Going to be an open championship next year. Three drivers with a realistic chance of winning it. Raikkonen, Alonso and Hamilton. Ferrari will probably get constructors as I see Massa being a stronger number two then McLaren's or Renault's.

Will Renault realistically have a championship quality car next year?

If they stole enough of Ferrari's design from McLaren, they could have a good car next year.

And when Ferrari rob it from them the year after, they'll be invincible, right?

Depends on who McLaren sign. If they get Kovalainen and the car's as good as Ferrari, I can see a close battle for both championships. If Renault build a winning car Alonso may win the driver's crown, but I don't think Piquet will be good enough to help them to the constructors' title, at least not in his first season.

It was good enough for Alonso in 05 and 06.

I heard McLaren could be going for Rosberg or Kubica, both those need a bit more experience, imo.

    Piquet's been signed.

Yes, but the 07 car was a dog. Compare Fisichella's performances for the various years and you'll see what I mean.

So was McLaren's 06 car though. A lot can change in a year, if you play your cards right.
