I would say that weekending 31.8.2008 would be a week that Castlebar Celtic would like not to be remembered, as this must be the darkest week they will remember.
It was soon to be a reality that they were not to entering a team into Eircom U-20 League, Which from there part must have been bad news.While some clubs in Mayo will say they had it coming. Over the last number of months They would have learned That Galway Utd and Sligo Rovers would have been Courting a numbers of there best talent at under 18 up to 20 years.Celtic for there part were hoping that the F.A.I. would relent and allow Celtic to enter into the U-20 League.
Now it looks like up to 8 players will leave for ether Galway or Sligo, this is the same F.A.I. who spent a week in Mayo talking up how successful football was in Mayo. Hope they would continue the great work in promoting grass roots football. It looks like bread eaten soon forgotten .It appears that John Delanney /co only consider Mayo as a feeder league for those who are around us such as Galway /Sligo.
This decision by The F.A.I. will put football back in Mayo By five years, not only for youths of the county but also our junior league, will deprived of the best players to play in there league. also to play for there county team.
It now has become clear that Galway /Sligo will now cherry pick the best players from Mayo, also K/Knock have also been hit with the lost of one the best goal keepers in the county in Michael Schlingerman at u-18.this also means that he will not play for his county also because of one bad decision by John Dell Boy and co.
It looks like Mayo is the forgotten County, after been made false promises to Celtic who took up the place last year in the Eircom U-21 league,We can only see if Dell boy will throw a life line to Mayo

its not 8 players but 6 anyway and i know that for a fact!!! no point mentioning names you will see soon enough who they are. it's a joke and i wouldn't blame the players for wanting to play in the eircom league, who wouldn't ???? players are going to lose out on playing for an eircom league team in mayo and renovator is right about john delaney coming and praising all the facilities in mayo but whats the point in having them if they are not put to use???

Since Dykes left the majority of their team has gone. They are now an average superleague team if that. It just shows you the loyalty that they have.

They have alienated their former players who left and are with other SL clubs.

There no waffling here, I did state that some clubs would say they had it coming, and I do agree? that they Celtic didn't always behave and respect other clubs, However the two players you are talking naming Torphy and Fallon, were driven by one father's ego to do better.
My point is about the number of players leaving the county, not by who they play for. Your club could have taken up the opportunity, but you failed to.At what point as a club do you intend to raise the bar, or is just enough to win local titles. while I have no problem you doing that, but to criticised others want to play at a higher level is like taking a step backwards.
My point is that these players who leave this county to play in another county is lowering the standard of our game, plus the players are not available to our county teams, Should Celtic or any other club set out to play at higher level and players choose to play for them, that's what would attract any player who wishes to play at higher level, but to deprive a player would be the wrong reason to be in football and a selfish one.
Regards to the gray one only he can answer for what he did, not me.We can only sit and judge him.

Renno we have won the national title the FAI Junior Cup. I am sure the Westport United Foot is happy to consolidate its position and be a club of the community, what has happened at Celtic while the gray one was there has taken that away from them with the alienation of their local players.

The U20 league was supposed to be used as a stepping stone to the LOI, I think the club can sustain their presence in the U20 league I am not sure that a full LOI status is sustainable by them. Many of these U20 players wont make the grade anyway and you will find them back in the Mayo League in a few years.

I like to turn my attention to Tom Kelly comments in the Connaught, Shake up review the Super League. Have to say I do agree with him. its seem to be coming a mockery to the clubs who have played in it since it was set up.
If clubs who are promoted and can't take there place, its then time to look at the rules that govern them from taking there place, Its a choice between a bad rule and a team from 6th place in the lower league. One has to ask them self of which of the two is best severed.I believe a work shop is taking place soon its up to clubs to find a solution which will accommodate those who its best severed.

Any team losing 23 goals in 2 games, no matter what the opposition should not play at that standard, so hopefully kilmore do beat them and join us and S & F to make the super league stronger

We have to have a pitch (don't have to own it I think) to play in the super league as far as I know. Astro not allowed in the super league.

I think we might be trying to share with another team, we'll see how it goes. Hopefully the issue is sorted soon...dread the thought of playing in the premier again!
