Ash, or anyone else that might know, but Ash as he posted a message on the ELMB.

When was that friendly against Everton you mentioned? I was in Mel's years ago, I presume for a Town friendly and I know there was some connection with Liverpool. I had pretty much forgotten about it until I started going to Town games a few seasons back and when I saw the commentary box side, it dawned on me that I had been there before. Can't remember any of the match, just that there was a chipper van on top of one of the hills!

Would it have been about ten years ago? It has been bugging me the past few years!

    Town -v Everton

    Ray,
even though I was there the old memory aint the best for dates etc. but it would have been more than 10 years ago I reckon as
Kevin Sheedy was playing for Everton that day!

Maybe (or not) a prize to whoever can get the date, scoreline and
    scorers.

    AFAIK we went 1 up!

    Everton Game

The final scoreline was 5-1 for Everton on a bright warm summers evening. The classy Tony Cotee got a couple for Everton and from what I remember Kevin Sheddy was also on the scoreline at least with a penalty. I remember Neville Southall sitting at one of the goalposts signing autographs for the youngsters.

Athlone took the lead that day with an early headed goal from a very young Athlone player. I had a feeling it was Stephen Mullin but surely he's too young.

Don't really know the year but I have a feeling it was 1990 after Irelands exploits in the world cup.

    Wasnt Stephen

    Spotters Badge Oh No,
I knew we went 1 up and then got hockeyed but couldnt
    remember the score.

Sheedy left in 92 so I reckon it was just after Italia 90 or
    something.

I reckon Stephen Mullin was only about 10 then and doubt he'd
    have made the team
Think he was playing for Auburn Heights around then.
