    Thumbs down This last month

    must have been the worst for Irish sport in a long long time.

    Useless football team, even worse rugby team, golden boy of Irish boxing hammered in the time it takes to pour a pint of guinness, Irish sides knocked out Europe with ease, two of the worst All Ireland finals in a long time, our showjumpers out of the olympics....

    All we need is for that ridiculous International Rules sh!te to start up again and it would be complete.

    Ah well. The only way is up I suppose.
    I think I should the parachute, because I'm great.

    In fact, I think I should get both parachutes, in case one doesn't work.

    yeah pretty depressing stuff alright TA. But we will never compete at the highest level of any sport without proper government investment. GAA rules the roost in this country at the expense of everything else.

    am now looking back on that series with a feeling of nostalgia....
    Was he crazy!! Yeah , in a very special way , an Irishman.
    I slept, and dreamed that life was Beauty;
    I woke, and found that life was Duty.

    What about one of the rowing teams failing to make the Olympics? as well as the showjumpers?
    Jeez folks back in the days when we won nothing these guys used to perform at least respectably. I remember a guy called Sean Drea , when I was a small kid, single scull I think was his event, coming 4th at the Olympics which if I am not mistaken was the best result by any Irish athlete at that games.

    And on the subject of compromise rules didn't we lose the last series to the Aussies?

    I was on about about the sport in general. Its a pile of dung with no rules and just ends up with a load of skinny, pasty Irish lads on the ground holding their heads while being pummelled by massive, bleach blonde, muscular Australians.

    Like I said, A complete misnomer of a sport.

    No. Even then I refused to watch it. Its a mickey mouse sport and some of the violence in it is despicable. I dont want to sound prudish but if that was done in any other sport on earth, the players would be lucky not to get jail. A group of Australian player should have criminal convictions for GBH after what they done to Ciaran McDonald a few years ago.
