    FAI launches Intercultural Football Plan


    Legend and former Irish international footballer Paul McGrath was the guest of honour as the FAI today launched its Intercultural Football Plan which at its most abstract aims to involve greater participation from ethnic and cultural minorities in Ireland.

    "The plan also challenges and prevents the spread of 'racism' within the game and thus contributes towards a fully integrated and intercultural society." The FAI launch today highlighted the fact that the organisation were the first national governing body to appoint a full-time national co-ordinator to oversee the subject.

    The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

    A positive development

    Interesting that they deliberately use the word 'inter-cultural', rather than the more common 'multi-cultural' terminology.
