    KOH

They are hooligan / criminal firms. Its about getting one over the rival fans and the authorities. Man U had a firm called the intercity jibbers who would travel all over the UK and europe by sneaking onto busses and trains. They would then rob the local traders blind to fund there booze and drugs benders. They even had their own centralised travel group to make sure they could arrive en-masse and cause as much mahem as possible. Lots of ****ed up idiots being controlled by a small group of nasty and dangerous criminals. Jibbers are criminals who use football as a means to carry out their crimes.
Great book about it called "amongst the thugs" good read, scary stuff.
you are only a loser when you stop trying. Playing sport does not build character, it reveals it.

maybe so. but if thats the case then liverpool brought about 15,000 hooligans / criminal firms to athens!

the general feeling there among supporters was they were going to try and get in whether they had a ticket or not!

most people who were trying to get in were just chancing their luck but others were prepared to snatch tickets off their fellow supporters - and this wasn't only a handful of people there was a large number of incidents throughout the day.

it's easier for liverpool supporters to put this down to a few bad eggs who aren't 'real' fans than to face up to the fact that an element of the liverpool support are just bad news.

Every single football club in Ireland, England,..., the world has a bad element. A football clubs supporters is a cross section of society and like all other grouping it will have its bad elements.

It would help if we had a ticket allocation bigger than 11,000 as well.

yes i agree 100%, but everytime that there is trouble involving LFC you hear the same old 'they're not real fans... they don't even support liverpool, they are just 'scallys/scumbags looking to cause trouble.' that hide your head in the sand attitude doesn't wash with me.

now, don't get me wrong, liverpool are not the worst club in europe, far from it, but neither are they anywhere close to being the best (in terms of supporter behavour) and the constant denials are tedious.

the fact is that liverpool supporter's behaviour in athens was bad, granted the authorities and stadium weren't up to scratch either but that said any team whose fans flood into a city with 10-15 thousand forged tickets cannot claim immunity from blame. were all of these supporters just scally's or can we say for once and for all that they were actual liverpool supporters and they were acting the maggot and at least attribute some of the blame in their direction?

why did shamrock rovers have any tickets in the first place????

if you are talking about liverpool i think you'll find that the allocation was 17,000 and not 11,000.
