That's what you are if you're stuck playing against Monaghan and Kilkenny for 5 years.

Try going up on tuesday night from Limerick!! It was a 3 and half hour drive up and back... get over it!!

Nope that was down to mismanagement both on and off the field. Thankfully that has been rectified and we are improving drastically on both counts.

Not really great craic but i do it as i support my club. Wouldn't make a difference if it was a Friday to be honest. A Friday may also be worse with the extra traffic leaving the city.

Well that just means you more masochistic than myself sir. I can't hack that sort of travel the night before work anymore*.

*Actually I did and worse for the election but really shouldn't have. Flew transatlantic and went straight from the airport to cover a count for a paper. Not something I'd recommend doing.

Are you taking the mick? It's that to Drogheda with rush hour traffic to contend with.

Granted, it's not exactly as if we have it the worst with the likes of Athlone, Limerick, etc all having to play on the Thursday, but still a stupid day to have kick offs.

There will be a bus up, which at least sorts out the problem of getting back home for work the next day.

It depends where your starting from, if you need to take the M50 etc. Also would the journey be any quicker if the match was on a Friday? I really doubt it.

Maybe its a stupid day to have a match from away supporters perspective but i don't see why we should change for a handful of supporters. Thursday night is Dundalk fans most popular night for football. Plus it releases to bars to be available for functions which is an extra money earner for the club. If we get promoted next year then maybe it should be reviewed as its more likely that away clubs will bring large groups of supporters to games.

It's a bit of a pain in the backside but Dundalk have to do what results in the optimum income.

Of course not but you wouldn't have to worry about getting home for the next morning.

Dundalk started playing games on Thursday nights back in the 1980's when there was no work and Dole was paid out on Thursdays... FACT! I believe Dundalk were cheated out of their place in the Premier Division during the close season and were shafted plain and simple. Maxi was just extreme in his reaction to that disappointment, but I understand why he felt strongly against the decision.

With respect it is not that difficult to get home from Dundalk in a car after the game, assuming of course the windows haven't been broken by local scangers hanging around who never go to the games.

Exactly. Not everyone has a car.

Home teams have to suit themselves I agree. The size of away support in this league is nowhere near enough to justify making arrangements to have slightly more away support.

*BTW I never meant to start a discussion about the Thursday night thing.

ahem cough Rathbane/Southill ahem cough... you of all people ought to be familiar with scangers hanging around who never go to the games.

Last time I looked this country was a republic and guaranteed freedom of speech.

Anyway to get back to the FAI Cup tie away to Dundalk :-
Dundalk: Bennion; Flanagan, Lynch, McGauley, Crawley; O'Connor, Marney, Perth, C McArdle (R Dunne, 68 mins); Smyth (Gallagher, 81 mins ), Doyle (Vaughan, 73 mins). This was Dundalk's line-up in their last home league game I have highlighted all the Ex-UCD players in the side.

Dundalk in a poor run of form at the moment- 5 points from their last 5 matches- and are playing Cobh next week. Looks like we're playing them at the right time.
