Salthill have qualified to this stage before by the way, just to correct myself.

There's no stand in Drom..just 4 pitches. It's in the back arse of nowhere aswell.....ye'd have fun finding it if any of ye drive. No chance it'll be played there.

    Interesting...

Was thinking more along the lines of plane/bus/train as per Cork.

Looks like our tie with Harps is confirmed for the Friday night, so you'll probably be on Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon.

Expect an attendance in line with your home games and lots of mohair suits. Salthill have been huge beneficiaries of very well placed contacts in the Fianna Fail party and sent a very strongly worded e-mail about which way to vote last week.

Anyway your form is good. Don't I recall your accounting for Mervue United at the same stage in the same venue a couple of years ago? (0-1).

And the weather couldn't possibly be as unforgiving as on your visit on May 18th. could it.......

Devon have 6 players with League of Ireland experience(none of them set the world alight obviously) and 4 or 5 in the squad from the victorious U-21's. Vinny Faherty is their star player, having scored for the Junior International team and was in the U-21 League squad that went away recently. Been on trial with Ipswich Town.

Their ground is a wonderful facility with 4 top quality pitches and 8 all-weather 5-a-side cages and 1 half size astro pitch. Only problem is, as was pointed out, it's in the middle of nowhere and very exposed to the elements. They have big plans out there to one day try and become a League of Ireland side, but I can't see that happening myself.

There's no sense in having two league clubs in the Galway city area.

Saturday evening would be sweet, Saturday afternoon sweeter, Sunday afternoon would be ok but would likely involve more of a rush to get back.

If by "couple of years ago", you mean 1984/85, then yes, 2-1.

You'd have an hour and a half to make the 6:15 train, which gets into Heuston at 9. The last bus leaves Eyre Square at 8:25 and gets in midnight, so there's at least no likelihood of getting stuck in Galway.

Anyone on for visiting the Aran Islands on the Saturday before the game?

FAI Senior Cup - 2nd Round Draw
Salthill Devon drew UCD in the second round of the FAI Senior Cup - all games to be played the weekend of June 17th. Big Question for Salthill is can they play the game at Drom? Stevie Haynes and Paul Reidy are busy preparing for another shock....

That's on Salthill's website but not dated. I take it the venue and date haven't been set then?

Sunday afternoon kick offs are usually 3:15, leaving you just over an hour to make a 6:15 train. Will still be OK but probably wouldn't have time for a pint after the game or anything.

    No.

I e-mailed the club, they said they don't know about venue or date and to e-mail again on Friday.

7:00 kick off on the Saturday in Drom, according to Walk the Chalk. Assume that's from the FAI.

You're too old for that, surely?

Yeah it really is the arse end of nowhere. You'll see a map on their website which is pretty accurate, but once you come off the main road, you're on windy country roads for about 2 kilometers before you get there. Situated in one of the most affluent areas of the city, where most houses are occupied by millionaires, it's lovely when the weather's good but very exposed. You'll be well looked after there anyway. Will be interesting to see what ye make of the place.

I found that map, it seems to be drawn with South at the top. Took me ages to make sense of it.

The bottom of the map is the end of the bridge which runs beside Terryland Park if you know that. Terryland would be just under sign for Corrib Village. You go across bridge, you have to go straight through traffic lights as they wont let you turn right. Double back on yourself at next roundabout at then take left at same set of lights. Then out about 2 miles, take 2nd left after Glenlo Abbey hotel, then another 2km or so. Easy.
