As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our balls
better team won.
we played well in 1st half but struggled in the 2nd and the lack of depth in the squad showed as there was nothing to bring on to improve it.
need to bring in 4/5 players to keep the challenge going.
13 games gone, 2 defeats, 6 points clear at top, would defo have taken that at the start of the season
Outro music last night in Dalyer - Sinatra's versh of 'That's Life:' 'Riding high in April, Shot down in May'.......
Bet that made the walk out on to Connaught St more bearable.....

even worse it was on a couple of a4 sheets stuck together....

or 5-0.
Shamrock fans must have stolen the engine from the Bohs bus as it never moved from in front of their goal.Molested them in the first half but Pats chance of winning, and the game as a spectacle, was dead once the goal went in. Bohs defence too good and Pats' lack of a plan B and thin squad meant there was only going to be one winner. Would have been a cracking game if Pats had nicked one of the early chances and forced Bohs to come out and play.
Fair play to Bohs and Connor though, very professional. Still think its Droghedas to lose - a season too early for both teams last night, although it will be interesting to see who they bring in during the transfer window.
SIGNATURESCOPE
It's not pretty but we are becoming a force again. In fairness to us and to a lesser extent St Pats we are still rebuilding. Drogheda are the only strong club in the league since the collapse of Derry and Shels and they are the only ones spending suicide money. Not to win the league would be a huge failure for them.
It's funny to hear Pats fans complaining about being beaten by teams that don't play nice football. Call Alanis Morrisette, she'll write a song about it for you.
Cogito ergo Bohs
I'm interested to know how the game looked "quality wise" to those watching on the TV. I was filled with trpidation before the match last night and was convinced it was going to be a 0-0 borefest. Just wondering was a 2-0 borefest or did any quality come through on the box.
I got no lips I got no bones where there
were eyes there's only space
It was scrappy and disjointed but compelling enough (wouldn't quite say entertaining.) Other than Fahey everyone seemed nervous and hurried in possession.
I hope all those philistines who reckon Drogheda are a boring, negative team (they're certainly set up for solidity, but all their midfielders can and do play) were paying close attention to Bohs' formation last night. Three defensive midfielders, a forward so deep in the hole he brought a canary, their top scorer wide left and one man playing across the line who hardly saw the ball. I've no problem with it myself, but teams get stereotyped for less.

I see where you're coming from Sheridan. I wouldn't mind the door-bolt aspect so much if we just kept the ball on the floor. When a team utilises the counter attack the way we did it can be quite nice to watch but in a scientific/mechanical way rather than and artistic/aesthetic way.
Liked the "So deep in the hole he brought a canary" bit!

All of this has happened before. All of it will happen again.
I love to watch swift counter-attacking football, I don't think there's a more exhilarating sight in sport than a team hitting rapidly on the break (like Russian and Ukrainian sides at the top of their game.) Of course, that strategy is predicated on the assumption that your defence is strong enough to withstand pressure, and Bohs seem to have perfected that aspect. I'm just not sure Connor is interested in taking it to the next level...

Bohs currently do not have the people to play it through the middle, especially against a set-up like Pats, where that is their strength. Most of our midfielders are defensive/holding-minded, although Rice, who has been a revelation, clearly can make runs forward and Joxer Kelly on form will always give defences grief, especially if Alan Kelly and his ilk get off his back.
Connor has already acknowledged this problem, and the transfer window activity will be interesting. A forward-looking midfield would make a huge difference, would bring the likes of Fenn into the frame, and would make Crowe even more lethal.
In the meantime, I'll go with the breaks and the pretty but ineffectual opposition.
Galway, Cobh, Derry and Drogheda 1-0 up early doors.
O'Flynn peno for Galway
Shelley for Drogs
Derry 1-0 Waterford
2-0 Galway .......lovely
Derek Glynn 18
Bray 1-0 UCD
Derry 1-1 Waterford
Cobh 2-1 Kildare
