I'm not really surprised, he would have been brilliant for the league but it would have looked like a step down for him. I don't think he'll be at Dundee United for long.
Saints miss out as Flood heads for Tannadice
May 28, 2007
eircom League of Ireland leaders St Patrick’s Athletic have missed out on Cardiff City and Republic of Ireland under-21 winger Willo Flood, who will instead join Scottish Premier League side Dundee United on a season-long loan this summer.
St Pats manager John McDonnell was said to be interested in a loan move for the young Dubliner, but the SPL side have beaten the Saints boss to the punch.
Flood has been unable to make a sustained first-team breakthrough at Ninian Park since joining the Bluebirds from Manchester City last year.
The 22-year-old started just five Coca-Cola Championship games for Dave Jones’s side during the course of the campaign.
He has one season remaining on his current deal, and will need to impress in the SPL next season if he is to land a new contract at the Welsh club.
Would have been a fantastic signing for the league not just Pats.

We're not arrogant, we're just better.
I don't know, it would have been a fairly typical signing for the league, i.e. youngfella doesn't quite make it over there and comes home. Flood, despite early promise, hasn't really developed as a player from what I've seen (not a whole lot).
Still, certainly had the potential to be a useful signing.
He was never going to come to Pats. Just media talk

He'll never amount to anything more than a water carrier.
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"
All due respects, he was very poor when he played for the u21s against Belgium in Terryland last season

What are YOU doing to make it better?
He's a good player when fit and firing. I'm a bit surprised Cardiff don't see him as part of their plans for next year.

I thought this was going to be about Anto Flood!
Has he joined anyone since leaving Dundalk?
