    The positives of last night

Potter was really impressive last night for me.
Bruce and O' halloran started poor but played well overall.
Doyle getting another international goal was nice.
11 new caps...we are bound to get at least one good player from the 11

Credit to Stan for bulling ahead with the friendlies and focussing on the positives that could be gained. It was only a friendly but if you had known beforehand just how much Ecuador were up for it you would have taken a 0-3 scoreline.
    Stan looking more the part.
Young lads coming in and playing their guts out without fear.
For the future, less worries about first team players pulling out.
    New generation of good players.

Yeah, agree Potter looks a real talent and a real star of the future, But if anything O Halloran started off better than he finished and looks another good quality player. And Bruce played very poor all night in my view, maybe I'm being a bit harsh here seeing he's only young, but I would not like to be depending on him to be starting centre half in qualifiers anytime soon - very ordinary player.

Murphy and Kilbane also deserve a mention as they played extremely well too.
San Marino are going to be a handful as the group goes on." - Steve Staunton reacts to performance against San Marino.

Funny, at Birmingham I alwayts though Marcus Painter looked better than Bruce. He's at Swansea now though I think.

Painter is at Swansea, Stephen Kelly was keeping him out of the team, so he went on loan, and eventually it became a permanent deal.
